It can't be an air dynamic thing because it is not a stealth plane

You would think PLAN would came up with a new air frames foh the work rather a another version of classic E-2?

They have no experience making this platform, and the American design is tried and tested. Reinventing the wheel would've been a bad choice.

It has a huge front facing radar on top having the radar plate, and also has a more spacious cabine for the crew compared to the OG Hawkeye.

Not long ago, Qing (1650-1900), the Manchus imposed those humiliation rituals and tried to reject any European's new tech.

Did the boxer rebellion buck-break them hard enough to reverse this mentality?

The lower one in the picture is vertically challenged. The cockpit, the ailerons, it's less tall.

Yes but it also means the PLA is always a step behind at most. The USN knows these designs and knows their weaknesses. Copying US designs is fine if you just want to bully Vietnam but once you start saber rattling at the US you've got to step up your game.

they actually tried to make something different and has they improved the design, it looked more and more like the Hawkeye. I saw an article online about it with the pictures of the earlier designs but I don't remember where.

going from contra-rotating propellers to co-rotating is a pretty big change
