How hard is it to spot a camouflaged person from the air without using thermals?

Like how do you get rid of a shadow?

Depends on the terrain. On a mostly flat field or a salt pan there's no hiding. Innawoods even with thermals a guy that knows what he's doing can hide from you. I'd wager the trick is to spot movement or that something changed when it shouldn't have. If you notice a bush isn't where it was an hour ago that's probably your man, but with so much to keep track of as long as the target is slow and methodical about it there's just too much to keep track of for your average normie.

>>63871810
Upright you don't. You change it to not be human shaped and stay still or move slowly enough the recon plane might not notice that one bush moved 100 yards or just wait for the plane to fuck off while continuing to pretend to be a rock or bush.
Laying prone and not moving it's insanely easy provided you have something to cover yourself with, once again, to change the shape.

Say its a predator drone from 7km up, and its a guy in a desert lying flat with a tarp over himself.
Is it going to spot it without using thermals?

>You should write nature and let it know it's been doing a billion years of natural selection wrong.
Dumb nigger, I AM a product of natural selection. In the first fucking split-second before I could even understand what I was looking at, my eyes were drawn into that deer. Before my conscious mind could comprehend what I was looking at, my eyes were focused predatorily on the beast in that picture; with zero comprehension of what it actually was, yet my gaze locked onto it through sheer natural disposition.
This is the exact opposite purpose of camouflage.

>Its supposed to work at a distance,
It doesn't. If you can immediately spot it in a photo, it does not work at distance either.
You can literally look at the thumbnail, and the first place your gaze will be attracted to is the deer itself.
It is obviously not a functional camo.

My guess is that it works like Tigers stripes,
The animal it supposed to work against cant see bichromic,
Tetrachromatic reindeer can see wolf better than thermals would in daylight for example

That's a dogshit picture for whatever point you were trying to make, since the first thing your eyes latch onto is the person in the image.
With actual, properly done camo images, you can't spot the guy in them from the thumbnail.

Hiding in trees is cheating because humans, as descendants of apes, don't generally view "up" as containing threats if it's not open sky.
>nature can't cheat

Was written in the context of the singular most eye-catching deer, i.e. the one that's most visible even in the thumbnail.
If that deer wasn't there, then the one at the bottom would take it's place as "that deer."

Probably not if the tarp's the right colors, not laid square, and not reflective. Hard edges and angles are explicitly something humans are good at spotting. We're good at spotting that because that's a sign of other humans. Also not exactly hard to spot ye olde blue tarp in a sea of tan and brown. In the end it's going to mostly depend on how focused in the operator is or if it's got an AI assisting in spotting anomalies. Is the drone specifically hunting tarp man or is he just in the area the drone happens to be flying over at the moment?

Nail that sticks out gets hammered. Don't be a nail.

In winter and dim lighting modern snow camo can be absolutely frighteningly good. I have seen it a lot with my own eyes. Picrel is not even fully camouflaged, but trust me, when standing still, you can stay next to your tent's door and people only notice you if you are having a cigarette.
