Was given a red rider at a young age but the absolute start was as a toddler my dad held his black powder rifle while I aimed it at a Frisbee on a stump and pulled the trigger

I had two of these shitty dollar store cap guns (those 8-chamber break-open revolvers) that I chipped the orange muzzle off of and loaded with airshit BBs. They just about fit in the cylinder and in the barrel and would fly a couple yards at a fairly respectable speed. Fun times. Then I got one of >>63879122 , then I bought myself a Red Ryder, and the rest is history. My entire family was and still is pretty staunchly noguns so my /k/ journey, as with most things in my life, stemmed from within, not without.

No my parents actually loved me and started me on a 10/22. Then gave me a Crossman 760 to do with what I pleased in the backyard. BBs are for boys, .22s and pellets are for young men.

I never had a Red Ryder as a kid personally, though I did have other fancier airguns. I did shoot a Red Ryder a lot though: I'd go visit my best friend in the next state over during summer vacation and we'd go shoot shit on his family's 40 acres. He had a CO2 pellet rifle which left me borrowing his little brother's Red Ryder. It was a much worse gun but honestly that's what makes it such a good training tool. Its muzzle velocity is shit. This is a good thing because it really forces you to hold the gun steady if you intend on shooting it accurately. If your hold isn't good you'll move the barrel while the BB is still in it, pulling your shots off. It's honestly pretty good for teaching marksmanship fundamentals.

I bought a red ryder when I was 16. My mom was anti gun and soviet raised, yet somehow she still gave me the "you'll shoot your eye out" spiel which I thought was a western boomer only thing

My Dad got me a .22 pellet gun. We'd use an empty 22LR case to punch bullets out of sliced raw potatoes and shoot them in the basement.

Pops started me on my /k journey with his AR15 and Ruger Woodsman in 22 LR.

After that, airguns were shit until recently with some of the Gamo shit.
