An antenna should be one quarter of the wavelength long for physics reasons I have forgotten in the 20 years since trade school.
this means the wavelength from that would be so huge it couldn't see anything with a small return but could see things with a big return from extreme ranges.

Depends on the kind of radiation its shooting it at.
Early warning give you a certaib idea of were the bomber is then you shoot then with Heat seeking missiles

You can use 3 early warning radars to triangulate a position. All it takes is precise coordination. It can be precise down to the decameter level with 2.4ghz phased arrays at 200km

Ok lets say you EWR array has good targeting data, why the fuck are you launching a heat seeker that is lucky to see 10km instead of a radar guided missile which can engage as far as the rocket motor can take it.

Ideally it would be exactly the wavelength you wanted to transmit or receive, but that's often impractical because it can mean a really fucking huge antenna. Any power of two division works, though not as well: half-wave, quarter-wave, eighth-, etc. Quarter wave is commonly used because it's a reasonable compromise between performance and practical size of the antenna.

If you just want to detect rough distance and direction, there should still be advantages to using longer wavelengths.

The problem with long wavelengths is they have trouble detecting small returns and the B-2 has the RCS of a bird.

you mean short wavelengths?
With long wavelengths, the whole aircraft acts as a single radio body, ignoring its small details. It is short wavelengths that are affected by the small details in the body

I don't think that's specific to them it's more a sub-85 IQ thing. Which covers the majority of the nog population granted but there are plenty of true genuine retards in this world who have extremely weak theory of mind and are incapable of serious abstract thinking, causality analysis etc. There is some copypasta image about it.

It's pretty hard for normal people though to understand that there are true unironic retards out there who aren't even "lying" per se when they get outrage over trying to hold them accountable for something they did awhile ago because that was some other person from awhile ago.

Because the long wave ewr radar can tell you there's a plane there, but not it's exact position; if the area on uncertainty is within those 10km, then it's close enough for the heatseeking head to home in on the exact location without being affected by stealth or jamming. The biggest problem with infraread seekers is actually that they can be defeated by clouds, so they are only guaranteed to be the best option for high flying supersonic targets - and the b2 is the former but not the latter.

Probably. And that's about it. Its OTH eartly warning radar. Not search or track radar. It would show a small disturbance until the wheels are retracted after takeoff. Would you scramble interceptors westward if you detected 8 small birds in even intervals for 15 seconds in the general direction of Whiteman AFB +/-5 degrees and +/-1000km? Most likely it wouldn't even pass threshold for clutter to be fed into any processing or else you'd have to process thousands of birds.

Long wavelength radars would actually be better for detecting a B-2. They wouldn't get a missile lock, but they would be able to track it and guide interceptors to the area to engage.

no because it never worked properly, in 8 and 16MHz bands there was mututal interference between duga and civilian stations and the modernization to 4MHz band failed because of previously unknown auroral phenomena

Even if they could be spotted by powerful ground radar, interceptors would have no way of identifying the B-2.
Old-fashioned searchlights may be surprisingly useful in this regard, but something new would have to be invented, such as a laser, to illuminate the B-2's altitude.

AESA and PESA are common and Russia has both, for those VHF/SW and high power radars AESA is common.
>Russia has difficulty making X/K band (IEEE) AESA radars with good processing power, that's a different niche compared to those OTH radars
