Keep in mind we're also talking about international shipping so the prerequisite for victory is really about lowering insurance premiums, ensuring the captains don't puss out and ultimately minimising disruption to global markets.

I'm wondering what has been learnt from the Ukraine War to defend against things like drone boats. EW would be the obvious priority and I think the US would be very effective at countering what Iran sends out by way of drones or targeting via missiles - I used to hang out with a retired EW specialist and his view even in the 00s was that the Iranian had tried to target ships in the past but failed every time.
