>>63888504Some people do that to load the +1 in their pistol. They shouldn't, but they do.
>>63888441The 1911 is overrated from a modern perspective, but in the year 1911, it really was a cutting edge fucking pistol. The 1911 managed to be even better than the previous best pistol in the entire world, which was the Luger, and the Luger wasn't just best by default, it really was a seriously good pistol in its own right, which is why they kept being used in spite of being surpassed.
>disassembly and cleaning is a pain in the assCould be better, could be worse.
>can induce the "idiot scratch" if you move the slide lever a specific but easy to induce wayA symptom of its older style of design, but just don't idiot scratch it.
>heavyNot that bad.
>10mm versions broke their frames at alarming frequencyThey didn't really, the Delta Elite would start beating itself when people either handloaded 10mm crazy hot, or they insisted on lightening the trigger (as if the stock 1911 trigger is bad, lol), which changed the dwell time and timing.
Also, during Delta Elite production, Colt figured they could vastly extend the lifespan of all 1911 frames by making this relief cut into it, which you will see on near all other 1911 production now. This solved most frame issues with the Delta Elite.
>only 8 roundsIn a time of 6 round revolvers and 8 round automatic pistols, it was contemporary.
The Broomhandle held 10, but that thing really was a small carbine with a detachable stock, in my opinion.
>more expensive "boutique" versions that run smoother ironically are less reliable due to the tighter tolerances creating said issues If you say so, but you aren't exactly taking the deluxe pistol to a muddy battlefield.
>the stupid fucking grip safetyI actually never liked that. Thankfully you can drill and pin it.
>fixed extractor makes chambering empty bad for the gunSomewhat.
