There is a local schizo who has pretended to be a train conductor for 20+ years now, he just goes to a platform before a train departs, shouts about departure times and delays, waves his signal stick and moves on to the next platform.
He even imitates the whistle with his mouth (poorly).

Sure you do. Guy I know wasn't cut out for the job (kind of a weirdo) so he drives a converted ambulance painted to look like a fire truck to the sites of fires. Gives firemen free food and coffee. His daily driver is some compact car also painted up like a fire truck with strobes and everything.

The difference is you don't hear about guys like this since they're just wannabes. Fake cops usually end up committing crimes.

There is this one guy from my town who pretended to be a pilot. He did this for like 12 years, most of this was before my time of course, until finally City Hall decided to sort of throw him a bone. We were a small town but we’re right next to a military base and they have some percentage of their craft land here for refueling for some reason. To this day, I’m not entirely sure why, but we have helicopters and transport jets land here all the time. Anyways, we had freaking Air Force One here and to give this guy the pilot experience of a lifetime they let him fly Air Force One that day. Now it turned out he had some kind of palsy or something, so he wasn’t incompetent rather than completely incapable of flying the plane and almost immediately crashed it, and they had to deploy secret president cover up the whole mess.

I'm in the National Guard, and there's a local goofball so fat and retarded that even the nasty girls won't take him, so he "enlisted" with the state defense force and manages to show up at our AT and big events. This was my exact thought. If I saw this guy out and about I would think he was actually medically retarded and this was some Make a Wish gift. Like his one dream was to become a cop, but couldn't and the whole town just played along with it to make him feel better before he passes away to some degenerative illness. If someone looked at this guy and went "Uh oh a real police officer is accosting me" they should be beaten to death with hammers because they are clearly more mentally ill than the dude.
