Problem with that most if not all autoloaders are very picky about the length of cartridges being in spec. With revolvers anything goes, .45 Long Colt I remember had a copper hollow point that expands over an inch. .45 ACP already expands to .85-95.

There's also the issue that expansion will retard penetration, pistol rounds can expand too well and not penetrate deep enough in flesh to hit actual vital organs. This matters more when you're not squared with the target like Miami Dade where the target was engaging another officer, the round went though the arm, into the chest, and stopped just short of the heart. A fatal wound but not immediately incapacitating allowing the suspect to fight on and kill several more officers.

You'd need more energy to propel your super hollow point to get meaningful penetration.

Sheesh

I really wish the sabot’d .223 in a 9mm project got anywhere. They were able to 3d print sabots but you’d have to manually load them in a Glock round by round and they didn’t fly so well.

I know there are some commercially available sabots for reloading but never for 9mm

There’s this 10mm necked down to .224 that it could have absolutely dominated with.
