The J-20 is kinda unique because it's a very long range fighter and (current variants) have all you need for AD in sea, in that regard it's closer to a Flanker/MiG-31 or F-14 than a F-22.

last solid working estimates put about ~50 in what would be considered 'mission capable' status by USAF standards, and they claim almost 200 exist. china claims a readiness rate of 80% though, but this is a stupid claim, because intact RAM coating is apparently not a factor in mission readiness according to their assessment, and the J-20 makes a poor missile boat at it's size if it does not have intact RAM. I suppose if the plan is to have a forward J-20 painting targets or AWACS doing it and hopefully just long-missile boating with PL-15's it might work? there's no way in hell i'd take that bet if i was them though

Modern avionics can do wonder for task automatization, that's why the Ka-50 exists in the first place. Except the Ka-52 got made because attack helicopters are just too much to deal with for one person, even with all the automatization. But a fixed-wing aircraft has a lot less flight variables to deal with and operates with a greater safety margin relative to the ground, so making it a single-seater is more viable.

Sure, although there are still limits. I'm thinking more from a crew endurance perspective. Aside from splitting the workload on super long haul missions it is a good fatigue reliever to just have another dude to shoot the shit with over the intercom and having another guy keeps you more alert generally. Its already a fuck huge airplane so I would have just put a backseater in for those reasons even if technically it can be flown by one guy (which is true of almost all 2 seaters anyway)
