I just bought a Glock, I thought "I need a reasonable gun, I need a gun I'll actually carry, I need a gun that I can shoot without it jumping out of my hands", but I keep thinking about her bros, I think about her every night :tear emoji:

You can always get one down the road. I kinda dogged on Deags until I got one myself and it's actually really good. Runs most factory 44 loads just fine, much softer recoil than any revolver and very accurate too.

most people who manage to make desert eagles malfunction are retards with no handgun shooting skills, tiny hands, and an inability to manage recoil

I finally understood this when I had my dad who does not shoot recreationally shoot my 50AE that ran perfectly fine for 200 rounds and was failing to fully chamber every single round when he shot it. functioned fine when I shot it immediately after. then let some mil friends shoot it and the same thing happened and I realized that it was tremendous flinch combined with limpwristing and weak/small hands

if you let it turn around on you and don't(can't) control it, it'll malf. it's basically handgun shooting fundamentals skill test: the gun

It's half true.

They are tuned to run hotter ammunition and they foul up pretty fast. Cleaning one takes a while too, so a lot of people don't do it adequately or at all.
I find that Magtech factory 44 is cheap and high velocity enough (it is specifically white-listed in the manual for factory approved ammunition), and Ammo Inc 44 is slightly hotter, cheaper and works well too. I prefer FMJ for both since it helps reduce fouling slightly.
>>63890703
You really do have to be on point when shooting them as well. You have to hold it steady but keep your thumb away from the slide release (it is easy to activate accidentally) and you can't teacup the magazine because that will over-insert it.

I also found 2 relevant points.
1) Aftermarket ProMag magazines are totally worthless, to nobody's surprise. But they are sold widely. That could be a big source of complaints where people have a bad magazine and think it's the gun. Factory magazines need break in as well before they smooth out.
2) In California only a specific list of the mk XIX .44s are on the approved handgun roster and they are always sold out. Magnum Research sells them as fast as they can make them. This means California shooters are only getting .44 models and they make a sizeable chunk of the market for these guns because disposable income techie money. But these are mostly dadshorts shooters who aren't really experienced or dedicated enough to troubleshoot such a gun. I suspect MR is also sending lower quality QC rejects there because they know they can sell them no matter how bad they are and they usually won't get any complaints because Californians frequently buy guns just to show off that they will never shoot.

They do recoil less than a revolver firing the same ammunition but it's going to be a lot more than a Glock. I think you should really get a lot of practice with your Glock first to get the fundamentals down pat.

I'm a lanky weed with arthritis and I can shoot my Desert Eagle because I have a lot of practice, but if I didn't it would be a problem.

You should also definitely see if there is a range where you can rent one before you buy it. These are very expensive guns. You don't want to drop that kind of money only to find out AFTERWARDS that it's not what you really want.
There are a lot of guys who bought a S&W 29 or Deag just to dump it at a pawn shop a week later after shooting it once. Don't be a dadshorts statistic.

not gigantic, I'm 5'11 with huge palms and short fingers
if you look up a pic of Hugo Weaving one-handing a deagle, I get almost exactly the same grip as him
I can shoot it one-handed just fine, but it's a big heavy gun so fundamental pistol grip rules apply and it'll beat you up if you have faults in your grip or stance and gets tiring pretty quick
the recoil isn't really a problem for me, but the blast is utterly obnoxious in a fun way until it's not fun. on a scale from suppressed .22 to 950 JDJ, the recoil is just like slightly worse .44. .30-30 out of a 16 inch marlin or 7.5 swiss is more unpleasant to me than .50 AE honestly.
shooting it indoors without earpro will insta-delete your eardrums

My particular .44 mag barrel is prone to malfunction compared to the rest of my Desert Eagle barrels but I think that’s just an issue where I need to take some flitz to the feed ramp since it’s tearing brass on feeding and creating a bur that fucks with feeding. I don’t have an issue with the other 5 barrels I have of various lengths and calibers, they all seem to function fine.

There is some truth to it. .44 mag is revolver ammo, it's not designed to cycle a semi action. Therefore, not every load will work. It's not like 556 or 9mm that's designed to work in semis. Some 44 loads have the right pressure curve, some don't. People who are too stupid to RTFM and run the wrong ammo will have reliability problems. Like the other anon says, they really like the hotter ammo.

I'm not sure what the point of buying one in .44 mag is though. What's the point of buying an absurdly large meme pistol if you're not going to get it in an absurdly large meme caliber? This is like getting some big musclecar but putting a V-6 in it.

It is much softer shooting in 44 than the same ammo out of a revolver, the cost of ammunition is a fraction of what 50 AE costs and I can share ammunition between the DE, a revolver and a lever action which I can't do with 50 AE.

I examined 50 AE as an option when looking at buying a DE, but having actually shot it I'm not a fan and it just doesn't make sense. 44 and 357 are the most practical way to run an impractical gun.
There's also some older MK VIIs in 41 Mag for people with really patrician taste.

If you want a soft shooting plinker .44 might be cheaper than .50 AE, but is still mighty expensive compared to smaller calibers?
>ammo compatibility
does this actually matter? or is it just some spergfact that sounds good?
>impractical gun
yeah, exactly. If you're not getting full meme value then what's the point of the deagle at all?

Have you considered a 9x25 Dillon replacement barrel - ported and/or compensated - for nigh rifle ballistics and beyond 357 magnum top cieling for loads?

I always chuckle when I remember that the deagle has a rotating bolt. Just kinda crazy that such a pistol exists. Short recoil could’ve worked, with stiff springs, a heavy slide, and a long cycle distance. It’s got only 50% more momentum than 460 Rowland.

It wouldn’t have worked and maintained caliber interchangeability like it has, all chamberings use the same 4 recoil springs, and function well with them without any fiddling or swapping of anything but the barrel, bolthead, and magazine for major caliber changes. .44mag to .50AE is just barrel and magazine.
