>watch cop show
>"he's got a revolver"
>immediate hesitation with approaching
What gives? I've seen this happen at least three times now.

Test audiences didn’t seem to think “he’s got a slingshot” was scary enough to give a tv cop pause….

you see, because revolvers hold less bullets, they have higher accuracy rating. this is what makes them dangerous

don't forget more damage. autos and revolvers have similar dps but revolvers do more damage to armored targets thanks to flat damage reduction

Like >>63892716 says, revolvers are usually high-calibre weapons, often some breed of Magnum, which means big ouchie if they hit you. Especially since some larger rounds can go through most parts of a cart without noticing.
And in the modern age, where high-capacity semi-automatics are available almost everywhere, someone who chooses to carry a revolver is saying "I don't need more than six shots to get out of trouble".

I'm willing to bet there are far, far more .22 and .38 special revolvers out there than magnums
