I think the F-20 would have served well in the proposed Air National Guard role. But I understand why the Air Force went with just buying more F-16s.

Easily the XF-108.

Incredibly ahead of its time in multiple ways. Mach 3 cruise, internal weapons bays, look down shoot down radar, BVR missiles, and still one of the coolest looking concepts ever.

If it had been built people would still be jerking off to its performance today.

In a perfect world the Navy and Air Force's fleets would be swapped, with the F-22, F-15, and F-16 going to the Navy and the F-23, F-17, and ST-21 going to the Air Force.
>P.1154 and Convair Model 200
Good choices, supersonic VTOLs absolutely would have had great utility, especially for smaller navies.
>YB-35/49
Could have succeeded if it came out just a decade later. By then, far better engines plus the development of FBW systems would have made it practical and given it performance competitive with the B-36 it lost to.
>MiG-1.44
Just so the bad guys have something interesting and better performing to work with. Don't particularly care for the J-9 since China ended up getting new planes for the same role anyway.

The J-13 would have been pretty fun, China was soo late to the 3rd generation that it just sort of bled into the 4th gen almost

That's an aircraft Lockheed bought the plans for while designing the F.35.
Apparently they didn't like it and made something totally different.

YF-12. Gotta go fast. We could live in a world where we went for stealth instead of speed. The F-35 could have been a mach 6 scramjet able to fly at 100,000 feet.
