As much as we don't want to talk about it, this is something we are going to have to address. Gun violence is a real problem in America. Unless we deal with it, we are going to lose our gun rights. This belongs in /pol/ though.

There's no gun violence problem in America. Most people killed by guns are from suicides, something like 2/3rds of all deaths by a gun. That's not a violence issue, that's a mental health problem. Of the remaining 10-15k or so (basically a drop in the bucket) a vast majority of them are gang related shootings, or at least felons shooting other felons. Which is a greater problem with no one singular fix. Which only leaves some 2-3k deaths (including self defense shootings) that can't be directly attributed to causes like suicide or gangs, and those can also probably be solved with better mental health care since it also includes people going bonkers and shooting up their school or something.
