>>63898873No, you can own a much as you want. Some states have considered "armory" laws where having more than a set amount of guns or ammunition requires a special permit and storage conditions but nothing of the sort exists yet.
It is a thing in other countries though, but the limits vary.
>>63898969There's a form an FFL has to fill out if a single buyer purchases multiple handguns or semi auto center fire long guns in the same transaction or within 10 days. So basically 2 or more handguns or 2 or more semi auto center fire long guns.
Buying a handgun and an AR doesn't require this. Stripped lowers don't count. Shotguns don't matter.
The idea is to flag and track potential straw buyers. These forms get submitted to the ATF and local law enforcement (usually city PD). They are so common that they mostly get ignored, but if your name pops up several times they'll probably take an interest.
It isn't proof of any crime in and of itself, so they can't just kick your door in or demand anything without a warrant, but they are liable to ring your doorbell and ask what you are doing.
>>63899111It includes specifically semi auto center fire long guns with detachable magazines. By that they are mostly interested in ARs/AKs going to Mexico.
>>63899282Not quite. ATF audits FFLs periodically at random but digitizing 4473s is not what they do during that. There's a lot of concern about e-filed 4473s since they could easily skim all that information illegally without telling anyone. Theoretically that information is only transmitted to NICS at the FBI rather than the ATF, but it would surprise no one if that information was logged and shared even though it is explicitly not supposed to.
What does happen is that the ATF does collect 4473s from FFLs that shut down. This is because the dealer is supposed to retain them for 7 years, which they obviously can't do if they are out of business. ATF is only supposed to retain said records for 7 years after the dealer closes.
