Will this reliably kill someone? Like if a junkie charges me at a gas station and I shoot him 8 times will he drop?

Depends on shot placement and bullet tech. A gut shot isn't going to stop them. You would have to hit vitals. If you can't carry expanding or fragmenting hollow points because of legality, get some of the fluted defender rounds from lehigh or underwood.

Just Germans mostly, most Europeans haven't really developed the immunity to smaller caliber rounds that Americans have.

you can shoot him 8 times with a 9mm & he won't drop
hit your shot, and even a .22lr will end them in an instant
.32 acp works perfectly fine for defense if you're not dogshit, and winging them in the arm

Yes, there's a reason it's been around for well over 100 years and still available. Is it the best? No. But it is certainly adequate. Shot placement is more important with the smaller calibers, and the HP ammo is not as good, but it still works. If you're dealing with a junkie, dump the whole mag to make sure get the full dose of pain. Headshots are best but you can miss, so pump it in their chest. Hopefully you hit them in the heart and drop them, but 8 shots in the chest will get the majority of people in just a few seconds.

I'm possibly wrong, but I think part of it is they have to meet package listing requirements now. That being said, they can still have nice old style packaging and just have the legally required information on one side of the box. I like the stuff the Russians were importing up until the sanctions from the Ukraine war kicked in, they were nice.

Ooooh, you got the old school Barnaul hunter box, those are really cool to me. Nice. I rarely see those anymore except for occasionally in shotgun ammo. Old school ammo was really nice. Either way, to get back on topic, .32 ACP is good, John Browning's excellent gift for concealed carry. .45 for open carry, .32 for concealed.

Colt really should do them still at a reasonable price, like 6-700 MSRP for a new made in USA production one would sell well.

I would imagine the Turks could do a great job with it, considering how well the Tisas 1911 is, almost 100% accurate clone. Turks are also making the Browning Hi-Power clones now too. Maybe we'll see it eventually.

Handgun rounds do sometimes instantly shut down a target. Some don't even if it's in the right spot. Killing someone with a handgun is typically a nightmarish event. Even point blank headshots can caused a few seconds of an unpleasant grunting noise. Actually that goes for any round that's not booking it past a velocity of around 2000 FPS, and 2500 PFS seem to be the sweet spot because the round visually explodes into bits when it hits a moist barrier. AK 7.62 x 39 for example are regarded as awful in terms of stopping power, but super excellent at barrier penetration. The 556NATO round typically has a velocity that's excess of that 2500 FPS velocity within 150 yards "battle range" and is extremely devastating if you look at the wounds they leave behind.

I don't like any pistol caliber round unless it is book at a minimum of 2000 FPS.

Most people are going to stop after a gun is presented, let alone after getting shot.

There are a few who might fight through it, but you're average mugger isn't that guy.

32 will solve the vast majority of the defense scenarios.

I donโ€™t know, but I want to say that 8 shots of anything more energetic than 22lr will drop anyone, unless they have like a 1 foot deep layer of fat to absorb the shots. If there are 8 holes in me and Iโ€™m miraculously still conscious and on my feet, I am not going to be doing anything other than seeking medical help.

Basically I was your typical Kommando super excited and incredibly sleep deprived working third shift, so I went and bought two pistols on my 21st birthday, a .357magnum and a 1916 ruby .32 because what the hell it's my birthday why not buy two. Cue me getting home and deciding since Ruby's have a history of not feeding well from factory differences, I'll use some snap caps.
I had no snap caps, I sent the slide home with the slide release and it ran away on me like a cosmoline soaked sks, I was sitting crosslegged on my bed at the time >>63897549

All pistol bullets are basically the same. They don't go fast enough to cause hydrostatic shock so the damage is localized to the immediate wound channel. The larger bullets do better as hollow points, but you still must hit critical areas.

Yes .32 is sufficient, however do shoot multiple times to increase incapacitation
