Additionally, I’d argue that since hoplophilia is an exclusively male trait, guns probably represent to us, deep in our Grug brains, something like safety, security, personal defense, and the capacity to defend mating rights. In your monkey brain, you’re probably registering a gun as an instrument that renders you the biggest swinging dick around, who can not come under threat by anyone else. Consciously, it’s something different, but under the hood, I bet this is why we take so well to guns, even from such a young age.
It’s kinda funny though that after god knows how many hundreds of thousands of years, the best and most cutting edge way of killing someone is still to just throw a rock at them. Basically “hit it with a rock”. A very small rock going 3 times the speed of sound, but it is still a rock.
