it's just plain retarded
Japan has a way more developed military than Ukraine
they're extremely xenophobic and nationalist and have a huge army they're just itching to test out on somebody but can't because WW2 and selfdefence and so on
they have the world's most well-trained and drilled air force because of constant Chinese patrols in their ADIZ, they have 300+ modern fighters, mostly F-15Js and a few F-35s, and MORE AWACS aircraft than Russia has, about twenty E-2 Hawkeyes
they have one of the world's largest navies, about 50 cruisers and destroyers of various size, many of them with SM-2s and ESSM
they have about as many SAMs as Ukraine did but they're modern, not ancient Soviet trash, and antiship missile coastal batteries
and the Far East is so undermanned, typically, that major Russian troop movements for the invasion would be hilariously obvious

this is nuts
I can't even
I thought OP was trolling but unless this is CIA disinformation it's genuine
they'd be insane to try this

Ukraine at least had the excuse of annual Zapad exercises which lulled most of NATO into a sense of routine security (despite that being textbook deception which everyone knows about)
for this, there would be no such excuse

TOKYO MONITOR
“Eyes East” Special Report – February 26, 2026

Satellite Imagery Suggests Russian Military Buildup Near Japanese Maritime Border
Vladivostok —
Defense analysts and Western intelligence sources are raising alarm over a sudden spike in Russian military activity near the Sea of Japan, with satellite images showing the movement of amphibious units, missile platforms, and elite airborne troops into forward positions across Primorsky Krai and the southern Kuril Islands.

The buildup, which began quietly in early February, has escalated sharply in the last 72 hours. U.S. Pacific Command confirms that at least two Alligator-class landing ships and one Ivan Gren-class amphibious vessel have been repositioned to ports near Nakhodka and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, along with heavy radar jamming equipment typically associated with offensive operations.

Signs Point to Coordinated Operation
"The scale and composition of forces are not consistent with a defensive exercise,” said Col. James McKinnon (Ret.), a former U.S. naval attaché in Tokyo. “This isn't saber-rattling — it's a playbook.”

Commercial satellite images analyzed by open-source group StratMap Pacific show:

Rapid deployment of fuel depots and pontoon bridge sections at coastal staging zones

Bastion coastal defense missile systems repositioned south toward Japan-facing cliffs

Increased Russian Air Force sorties over Sakhalin and the Sea of Okhotsk

Enigmatic rail convoys arriving in Vladivostok, each with tarped cargo and armed escorts

That's partially the case. At some point they were churning out hours because they wanted a result. But after a while it just creates more issues, people become tired and they churn out long hours because they are not able to work as efficient as a rested person.
They "work" long hours because that's the default thing, but after a while it's just drops productivity. Especially when you can't see the results of you putting in a ton of work. Why do you put in the hours for? For what? Where's the result? It was one thing to kill yourself with work when the economy is booming for decades and progress is moving along, but a whole other ballgame when you're stagnating for decades.

The wiki gives some insight, but is bias in that it makes claims that Russia speakers are ethnically Russian.

>In September 2008, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko accused Russia of giving Russian passports to the population in Crimea, and described it as a "real problem", given Russia's declared policy of military intervention abroad to protect "Russian" citizens.
>On 24 August 2009, anti-Ukrainian demonstrations were held in Crimea by ethnic Russian residents. Sergei Tsekov (of the Russian Bloc and then deputy speaker of the Crimean parliament) said then that he hoped that Russia would treat Crimea the same way as it had treated South Ossetia and Abkhazia. (Ie, capture).
Basically Russia had already installed separatists within Ukraine almost 20 years ago, barely 10 years after the collapse of the USSR (maybe even before that) they were working to regain what they'd lost. The USSR had considerable sources of funding after the collapse due to leaving Ukraine with the bill for chernobyl and used that funding to build up organised crime syndicates abroad, once they had funding from oil extraction and their criminal organisations they started using the same money to influence their neighbours instead of simply using the money for benefitting their own citizens.
The leadership had irredentist beliefs, they wanted to return to being a strong power at any cost, and for that he needs people and land.
It won't work naturally, but reality isn't where these people's heads are at.

Japan is an unknown. Can they galvanize? Well, essentially how is the political right wing doing? Right wing is pro-individual (cut out recent US nonsense). So if they're being pro-individual lately (not really) they might have the nuts to fight.
But they're suicidal, more gay, less in relationships, less breeding, more hours and less actual output. So does war snap them out? Idk, what does their own history say?

Statistics east of poland/germany are just lies. Believe them only if they seem true and hope you're not a confirmation bias victim I guess. But having been a member of an american ukrainian cultural club, 15% of Ukraine WAS pro-russia. Today? Probably only by familial ties. There is extreme anti-russian violence among civilians, the bad stories aren't getting a lot of attention.

The japs aren't inefficient, they just work hard because they write a second report on the outcome of the first report all the time. They have a retarded datalake on themselves and no real way to even parse it but they keep creating it in the vain hope that quantity is a quality. They never just fucking "do" anything.

>Japan is an unknown
Really? They have an actual navy, more than Russians if we ignore Russians logistics fleet. Any war is going to be naval and aerial. They have 38 F35s with hundreds of missile truck slave trainers and f15s, which are going to delete any Russian air or surface group.
They have 24 attack submarines, making assaulting the islands logistical suicide.
As for the cultural angle
>Suicidal
Good for suicide attacks
>More gay
Homosexuality is not really a negative factor for a military unless they're practicing Russian homorape
>Less in relationships
Is this an issue for recruitment? Doesn't seem like it. Lost men are easier to recruit.
>More hours
Good for a military
>Less output
Never really mattered for grunts on the frontlines. They're still significantly more efficient than Russians.

Oh and I forgot to add. Japanese population 123million people.
That's only 20million less than Russia.
They can barely handle a formerly 55million Ukraine in the black sea what makes you think they have any chance against Japan who has an actual naval and air force.
