What's faster, open sights or ghost rings? I've seen people argue both
also, red dots are better than open sights in literally every way. the only thing I might be worried about in the slightest is like dangerous game hunting, but usually you have a backup shooter for that anyway

Dangerous game hunters debated this in the late 1800's and early 1900's with their lives on the line, and concluded at the time that the fastest sight was a low power (1.5x or less) scope.

Hell fucking no, by far the most common sight on dangerous game rifles are express sights. A big, wide V-notch in the rear and a fat bead or post on the front.

That professional hunters replaced with low power optics as soon as they became available and moderately reliable in the african heat.

That certainly wasn't in the "late 1800s". Scopes of that era sucked ass. A handful of people like Bell shot elephants from a distance but he was the exception rather than the rule. I've handled hundreds of dangerous game rifles from the era you speak of and not one has had an optic or even mounts for one. Sometimes you see optics on the smaller safari rifles people use for plains game, but not on an elephant gun.

"Twilight beads" are very common, either as an accessory that snaps on, or as a fold-up feature of the front sight. These were very large and either polished metal, ivory, or mother of pearl with the idea being you could see them more easily in low light.

High-vis detachable rear sight. That is a bit unusual, usually it was only the front sight set up like that.
Picrel is the more common arrangement, a fold--up pearl or ivory dot on the front sight only.

There was also this style that folds forward for stowage and swings back to cover up the normal sight when in use. Top of the pic shows the "twilight bead" in use. Bottom of the pic shows it folded forward so the normal sight can be used.

the biggest difference in speed is searching for your target
theres a big difference between knowing where to shoot at a known range and having to find verify then shoot
