This video proves that "cope cages" do work. But most propaganda videos released by both sides only show the last strike that destroys the vehicle, and leaving out all the previous dozen strikes that It took to damage and immobilise It

There are plenty of videos of tanks without cope cages taking several drones with seemingly no effect before one destroys it. You're retarded.

Reason why they are called cope cages is because they were intended to stop javelin top attack mode tandem warheads. The fact that they are somewhat effective for tiny bombs dropped by quadcopters or FPV drones with modified RPG munitions (and only if they hit them on the cope cage) came way later. Cope cage is older than that, hence the term "cope cage". Because it doesn't protect against the threat it was meant to protect against in the first place.

Dude, you’re fucking retarded.

Top mounted armor came from Syria, where drone dropped bombs were common place. ISIS invented drone drops. There was no threat from top attack guided missiles in Syria where the cages were first seen.

“Cope cages” comes from a propaganda effort to make Russians look stupid

Why did Russians start putting cope cages on their tanks after getting rekt by javelins and before getting rekt by FPV drones? Bullshit your way out of that, you redditspacing niggerfaggot.

You make zero fucking sense you stupid fucking faggot. Prove that you’re not a child by posting a gun.

ISIS, in 2016, were dropping 40mm grenade launcher warheads from quadcopters with the accuracy to land through an open tank hatch at altitude of 100 yards. The threat of drone dropped munitions predates the war significantly. Here is a paper stating such

You are pivoting to something unrelated. Doesn't explain why Russians started putting them on only after getting rekt by javelins, but before Ukrainians started using FPVs.

The Russians put them on before the fucking war you stupid fucking faggot. Before they ever faced javelin missiles. They did however, face drone dropped munitions in Syria, where the cages were first seen.

cope cages do not work
first few strikes penetrated the armor but did not hit ammunition or whatever they were carrying
shaped charge jets do not work like video games make you believe, hit in any insignificant spot = instant explosion

>The Russians put them on before the fucking war
Ah, so that is why they started appearing few months after the original invasion push. That's why they were usually hastily welded on from anything the soldiers found lying in the ditch next to a road. That is why they started appearing before Ukrainians started using FPVs. You are a dishonest liar and you are arguing something completely different that what my original point was. You can't disprove anything I have said.

And? We are talking about Ukrainian war, aren't we? The one where all my points still stand and you keep rambling on about something unrelated. The one where the term "cope cage" was coined exactly for the reasons I have specified which you are trying to memoryhole for over 3 years now.

The Russian MoD was touting that their cage armor can stop top-attack munitions like Javelin, there were even published articles. This is where the expression came from. It's not the bar armor principle on itself that was called a cope cage, but the hastily welded pieces of metal meant to stop a fuck-you tandem warhead.
Found this old pic that I had saved, links should probably work, there is an archive link there.
Don't get me started on the Cope Bucket modification that was meant to work as a heat seeker decoy which turned out to help the seeker find the vehicle at higher sensor temperatures.

But to my knowledge following Syria, the cages were meant to stop drone munitions. Some journalists or officer asked “would that work against top attack missiles” and someone said yes and they ran with it.

I don’t blame them trying to make countermeasures against top attack missiles, no American or other western vehicle has countermeasures either until we get better APS systems. It’s like American tankers in WW2 filling sandbags with concrete trying to make spaced armor against shaped charges, it didn’t work and was arguably worse since it gave a better surface for the warheads to hit. Likely if American tankers had to face top attack munitions without APS systems we would see the same

Rhino is not a IR missile decoy stuck on the back in a burning bucket. You put this on the lead vehicle to trigger bombs in front of you instead of the old chain rotor. It's a mine clearer.
