I want a pre 86 mp5 so fucking bad. If only they didnโ€™t cost 70 fucking K.

Iโ€™m planning on buying a mk23 this year but I think Iโ€™m gonna get a new PC first.

I knew of a client of a friend that has like 15 of them in LA of all places, canโ€™t sell em, so they just sit on a rack in his walk in safe. Bought them right as they hit the market in the 80โ€™s with a plan to sell that never happened.

Pic is shit but i'm one of you hkfags now. Used, around 1k rounds, for 600 bucks, in good shape overall. Bore was meh but I cleaned and polished it a bit. Slide feels gritty I mean I thought it would be very smooth, it's not.
>muh overbuilt
I kinda understand yeah. Slide is big and heavy compared to the frame which feels plastic and weak. Maybe weaker than muh glonks but it's just me probably. Quite happy still, I'll need a rail and a light, a grip, and at some point i'll go the jet funnel route.

>slide gritty
Maybe it's just me : it's my first USP, the slide is heavier than muh glonks, the difference may seem of importance to me at the moment, it may change. Maybe i'm just not used to it. I mean the overall shape of it, slide, frame, internals, is in almost impeccable condition. My 300 rounds glock gen 5 internals look far more used. Hell, I was surprised to find little machining edges of plastic alongside the slide which removed themselves after a few dozens rackings. Like it was brand new.
>barrel
A little context tho : the barrel was mounted on another gun (Custom Sport) from time to time, so I believe the barrel itself has seen more rounds than the overall gun. Gunstore told me "hey, your seller didn't cleaned the barrel too well, I clean it fast and ship it to you, but you'll have to clean it deep". And yeah, no doubt, bore wasn't nice enough for my liking. I cleaned it and polished into picrel. Not enough still as we'll see but way more ok-tier.

BUT

are HK assholes?
the two closest gun shops to me in my country don't want anything to do with them anymore and vice versa, even though they're pretty popular with customers

BUT, like I said. when zooming and enlighted close enough, I still see little black and white traces at the muzzle. It's not scratches, it's smooth and doesn't feel different than the rest of the barrel. I believe it's fooling, carbon, powders, lead and all. I want to clean that deeper if I can. Any thoughts ?

I've been thinking about getting a p2000/p30 but it doesn't seem like they are very well liked. Nobody uses them in shooting competitions for instance. Is the trigger just garbage or what?

I really want a USP but I figured the plastic frame felt stronger too. If not I don't need another polymer pistol.

P30 trigger is the worst of all the modern HK handguns. It's veeeeery long and the reset isn't great. The P2000 trigger is an improvement over the USP. HK generally isn't popular in the comp scene though. If you want an HK comp gun, why not go the VP9 Match route and add the HKP match spring for under $30 (this is the only thing I ever recommend buying from HKP).

Do not take my current opinion for a fact that can't be discussed. I own this gun for a few days, it's growing on me quietly. But granted the plastic doesn't feel much more impressive. Still, my Glocks have the larger backstraps + hogue grips, which add a chonkyness and robust feeling. I guess some hogue grip + jet funnel could get me the same impression.

I enjoy my HK45 V1 "Light LEM." Kind of wish I didn't pay $1100 for it a decade ago, but putting cost aside very proud of making a good choice for my first handgun. Probably 6,000 rounds through it so far.

Because I want a DA gun. I already have an RXM/Glocks so I don't want another striker fired gun.

I mainly carry a DA 32 j frame so I wanted a 9mm that is also DA.
