why do AK's rarely have mag funnels?
this one is actually airshit, but there a few other huge ass milled aluminium ones for comp, though no actual "tactical" use ones however
why?
Anonymous No.63907010 [Report] >>63907024 >>63913149
No real need. Like ARs sometimes have funnels because the motion of loading is just shoving it into the port. With AKs, your hooking it on the lip of the receiver, then you pull it back until it clicks. In that sense, the front of the magwell is the funnel.

it can still be a bitch under pressure though, theres been times where i've had the mag catch on the sides when not really looking

Russian generals/weapon designer dont care if the soldiers get killed, or can reload easy or not. Its about what is cheapest to produce

Or maybe it doesn't actually matter at all.

Because mag funnels are a competition thing meant to shave off a second or so in a stage with several reloads where each shooter buys their own gun, meanwhile outside of competition in the context of arming a military it's an added step in manufacturing that isn't likely to have any tangible benefit in an appreciable amount of combat situations.

or perhaps because it was developed in a time where reloading with clips was the standard and they didnt really understand our 2025 low speed high drag meta

The AK is piss easy to reload under pressure if you train even a little bit

do it in the dark while walking on uneven terrain you can't see
if you would have said AR, i would have agreed, because even in the dark without looking it's piss easy, but the ak? no no

Even more magwel is detrimental to development of drum mags.
AR-15 magwel and magazines were mistake.

Anonymous No.63908029 [Report]
Have you niggers never shot an AK? It has rocker magazines you are hooking the lip with and rocking back, not jamming up the well.

Magwel in AR-15 is byproduct of the initial 20 rounders that were supposed to be single use. AR-15 mags are lightweight and kinds fragile. Magwel was supposed to surround magazine and protect it from bumps. Also magazine's locking side notch is much easier to manufacture (compare colt magazine with AK-47 magazine made from multiply parts), remember AR-15 magazine were supposed to be single use!
But then single use was abandoned, straight 20 rounders replaced by curved 30 rounders that somehow are supposed to fit into straight well. And magwel is grandfathered. Huge mess.

The mag well was there for the AR-10 which decidedly did not have disposable cheap mags, its a feature of the AR having a two piece receiver with the trigger being behind and below the magazine.

The SR1 is such a weird firearm, it has the balanced recoil system from the AEK series and the A 545/762, but it's a civilian gun, semi auto only, what's the point?
if you're a russian gun owner, and want to shoot 5,56, why not just get an ADAR?
Anonymous No.63909335 [Report]
>>63909252
Nothing with the gun itself, it works just fine, th problem is the 95 round drum mags that have trouble feeding realibly, put a normal 5,45 third rounder or 45 rounder there and you are good to go.

Explain the indents for the fucking stripper clip guide and the bandoliers having ammo in stripper clips for resupply if the magazines were supposed to be tossed out.

Because AK's are old ass pieces of shit designed in the 1940's. These things are contemporaries of the M1 Garand for god's sake.

why is it that every single effort to improve the AK just makes it more similar to the AR?
Anonymous No.63911616 [Report]

The SR1 isn't really a domestic gun, its aimed at the euro IPSC market. Hence why most of the user feedback comes from poles and czechs.

Form follows function. Stoner was a genius and the AR's ergonomic proportions are impossible to avoid if you're designing a modern weapon.

Other than the buffer tube to make use of AR stock aftermarket, I don't think it does. Its more like convergence, everyone agrees free floated barrels and rigid receivers are nice, and there's only so many ways to do that.

Korobov was an Atlantean scientist from an alternate future in which Atlantis never sank, reincarnated into a Russian's body. We can't take his work as indicative of something in the realm of human understanding or experience.

If you insert it wrong but that's pretty hard with a regular 7.62 banana
I'm pretty uncoordinated and can make a short 10rd mag jam in the magwell with some regularity but a 30rd mag, rarely
