It could've eventually been fixed, but the Germans were aiming their tank designs towards a dead end, too large and heavy, not enough compromise on those aspects. It's a bit like an attempt at the tallest castle walls while cannons became a serious threat.

Hitler literally had to put a stop to the Kursk offensive because he needed to redirect numerous tank and infantry forces to Italy because of the Allied invasion.
