Some old stats

A quick rundown, including BOPE and CORE, with 4 assorted recent ops:

- 05/06/2021: CORE operation in Morro do Jacarezinho. 01 innocent killed. 27 cartel members killed. 01 CORE policeman KIA

- 02/11/2022: BOPE operation in Vila Cruzeiro. 00 innocents killed. 08 cartel members killed. 00 BOPE policemen KIA

- 05/24/2022: BOPE operation in Vila Cruzeiro. 01 innocent killed. 24 cartel members killed. 01 BOPE policeman severely wounded

07/22/2022: Joint BOPE and CORE operation in Morro do Alemão. 01 innocent killed. 16 cartel members killed. 01 policeman KIA

In each and every one of these operations, a massive amount of drugs, firearms and grenades were apprehended. CORE has been rising up, some of their members are former BOPE operators, former Brazilian Army and some are verifiably ex-FFL. BOPE has also extensively trained CORE operators.

It is interesting to note that CORE operator´s wages are much higher than BOPE´s. OTOH, it is safe to say at this level of Brazilian law enforcement, no man is in it for the salary.

Unidentified. Probably a Browning M2 obtained directly from corrupt Paraguayan Army members. That's the origin of most of them.
Meanwhile, State cops get in trouble when they use legally leased weapons from Brazilian Military, as in the infamous Matemático ("Mathematician") execution.

Márcio José Sabino Pereira, the "Mathematician", was an old time drug dealer that controlled several territories in Rio de Janeiro. He was an old timer, therefore respected among other criminal factions. He was executed by helicopter in 2012, and the State cops got into serious trouble. His execution marked a time of severe containment of LE actions.
The action begins at 1:40. The Mathematician is shown entering the Honda Civic

If Brazil does not transition into an entirely different way of public security, our future is dire, our future is Mexican. Nowadays our model of containing these cartels is warfare. And State cops still kill or arrest the top cartel members. To be honest, they are mostly killed. This won't work though, since these Brazilian cartels are already infiltrating into our politics, at the time they reach policy the cartels are already enveloped into legitimate business lobbies. And at the second they get killed, Brazilian bosses have a queue to filled up to rise in their careers and nothing changes
Yet we insist on simple urban warfare

Too many FALs laying around the government's armory. When they transitioned us from the FAL to the IA2, they gave us the ordinary no food for 4 days course. Water was readily available. Just no food for 4 days. Two phases.
First phase was boot running for 10 miles with FALs from the 1990s hanging around your neck. I'm talking boot running. And then diamantling and lubricating the FAL. Then another 3 mile boot run and the stand with your old rifle. You had to shoot while you were gasping.
At the third day (no food at all), your received a brand new IA2. Dismantling and lubricating it. An able instructor to every man teaching how to adjust the open sights. A 3 mile run and then the range. God Bless, it is much lighter. 100 shots. Every man got better results
Ok, the IA2 is the better rifle. Which it is

The IA2 is an absolute piece of shit, the top rail won't hold zero, the handguard doesn't hold zero for LAMs, the bolt hold open is UNDER the fucking magwell and it has no bolt release for some god forsaken reason. It also isn't compatible with pmags out of the box.

t. tried to make my issued IA2 work like a real rifle and failed, so had to just buy an AR15.

The top rail on the IA2 doesn't hold zero anyway, so using optics on it is a losing battle. Every single time I took it to the range the zero started to wander after 15-20 rounds, so I don't care if it's lighter than a FAL when it literally cannot be trusted to hold zero.

It is la damn long of a rail and team after team use it. My experience is different from yous though. The IA2 has a long top rail and it gets bumped. Regardless of that, when we put holo sights on them, our kill ratio went up

BR cops, why did you choose a career with the police? I kind of get why people become cops here in burgerland, but it's a much riskier proposition down there. A guy at my BJJ school I think used to be a cop down there and now he's up here working construction. Seems like an odd life choice to me but safer and probably pays better in burgerbux.

Btw pls recommend some good movies em portugues, estou aprendendo.

It is such a unique life path that even rich boys take it. You may be taking your last beer and thinking about the rent and your colleage, often your hyrarquical inferior is a millionaire's son. It happened to me more than one time. There is nothing like it. It is also a fucked up life path, a mistake, and I wouldn't let a son of mine to get near it. I can literally throw my AR15 optic first on the ground and pick it up without the optic losing zero, I cannot do the same with my IA2, this is my point. The IA2 is a horrible design made by incompetent engineers and produced entirely to placate the corrupt domestic arms industry.
