Nothing. The whole "Gen" bullshit is only applicable to American designs because it literally refers to American cycles of Jet developments+ it's a literal marketing term that Lockheed Martin shilled hard for to push their products as the "next gen" thing
Each country's aircraft ought to be judged by their own national paradigms

The second chink prototype (J-50) that was unveiled back in December but got overshadowed by the trijet dorito (J-36). Yet this design actually is more conventional and achievable than the trijet monstrosity.

What makes any aircraft any gen?
A marketing guy saying so. Nothing else. Aircraft "generations" are a marketing term invented by Loghead.

For future reference, this kind of blank detail area is characteristic of AI upscaling when it just can't work out what should be there.
AI upscales don't usually greeble surfaces without some contextual clue so after a point, when it's really just inventing whole new pixels to shove between real pixels that are themselves just blur, you end up with blank spaces like this where it knows there's some detail there but has no clue what it should be, so it just goes with what's next to it for a bit until it feels like it should be different.
It's also why the wheel is so warped, the blurry detail in the original wouldn't have let it know that it's a circle and it could make different decisions pixel-by-pixel on where the black of the rubber tire ends.

I will never understand the term "AI enhancement". It's a gaussian blur with AI thrown at it to make it look somewhat sharp again. It doesn't generate new detail, or even make existing detail more visible. I hate AI cultists so much bros

I'm starting to get really scared of Chinese MIC, maybe we shouldn't test them too much lest we incur their wrath.

I think the ability to command UCAVs (although the F35 will probably be able to do this too); it's mostly bullshit term to lobby the government with.

Yeah, it's just a marketing thing at the end of the day. 5th gen was that way, too; some aspects (advanced avionics/electronics/sensors) are also on gen 4.5, other aspects (stealth/supercruise) really varies by model.

6th gen will probably be a mix of UCAV control, optionally unmanned capability, advanced engine design to support DEWs, and perhaps suborbital capabilities for LEO objects.
But some of those will be brought to 5th gen frames, and others will be outright ignored depending on the model

>suborbital capabilities
horseshit, only people with no interest in spaceflight would say shit like this
first of all, it serves zero fucking purpose, and makes you an easier target, second of all, the amount of design compromises you have to make to get it to be capable of even minor suborbital hops will make it completely worthless as a fighter and will make it impossible to keep stealthy.

The same way Chinese were making mp5 players when everybody was still only on mp4 capable devices. Advanced science.

Nothing. Literally nothing. It has gen 3 engines, gen 4 avionics, and a design copied from NASA, McDonnell Douglas, with a little bit of Lockheed Martin ICE thrown in for good measure.

Only AFTER being developed, tested, and fielded on 5th gen platforms did any of the older 4th gens get retrofitted with 5th gen derived technology - and even then it's a watered down version, and still isn't as good as 5th gen platforms.

Naturally. I'm just saying the line is really blurry on what "5th gen" is, therefore the line on what "6th gen" is will also be quite blurry. We already have nations talking about gen 5.5, even though no 6th gen fighters are in production.
