and I'm watching a 999 that is in such pristine shape there isn't even a drag line on the cylinder. No, it hasn't been refinished and the drag line got covered over. I don't think it's ever been fired outside the factory. There's a little bit of wear on the grips and the edge of the muzzle. I think somebody bought it, took it out of the box and played with it now and again, and just put it back in the box without ever actually shooting it... And now I'm suddenly wondering if it was somebody's backup "exit strategy" that they kept around for the comfort of knowing they had the option if they actually wanted to. It's of a vintage that if it had only one owner, and that owner bought it when they were youngish, they'd be in their late 70's to early 80's now... Wonder if somebody just found grandpa's old gun sitting in the top of the closet still in the original cardboard box and put it up for auction.
Anybody else wonder about old guns like this?
