were Mallgoths just misunderstood? could something good have come out of this technology if we allowed it develop instead of mocking it?

Absolutely. Mallninjas, fantasy larpers, etc, all have the right fundamental idea: an interest in weapons and how to use them. The problem is that they aren't aware that the products they're consooming are silly trash. If their interests were accepted then these people could be educated into being interested in real weapons, or learning practical skills to make fantasy weapons that are worthy of being called art.

Looking at it a different way, suppose there's some kid who is interested in swords. If people accepted this and took the kid to museums to look at real swords, pointed them to resources to learn about historical swords and sword-making, etc, they'd have a much better outlet for their interests vs hanging out with the loser kids & consooming chinesium slop.

I wish there was more diversity in what people carry. We need to normalize the carry of every weapon instead of what may be most effective.

Capitalism + the Internet.
Meatspace square footage is expensive to own and maintain, and limits the clientele to "anyone close enough to drive who knows about and wants to buy things the store sells". That's fine when you're talking about things with broad appeal and/or dense urban areas, but get too niche and there's a solid chance you simply won't have enough clients to make ends meet. Much simpler (and cheaper) to just own a warehouse and website and advertise on third-party forums that already self-select for people who would want to buy your product.

Selective pressures favor Glocks and Glock-likes. Eventually something will replace Glock forms, just as the rapier was replaced by the small sword and saber.

more profitable to just bulldoze everything into warehouses and block housing. get everyone living alone so everyone has to buy one of everything. then you just ship it to them using cheap labor that costs a fraction of what manning a store would have cost. 'community' doesn't pay leases.

In terms of nerd stuff, I visited the factory and warehouse of Reaper Miniatures which makes those little minis for tabletop RPGs, and had they had a game room and store in the factory which was located near some glass and metal fab manufacturers and the county emergency management building. Of course it's hard to replicate outside of one location.

I'm just saying we can make stuff in this country.
