You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>like an FRT, but a different mechanism (the safety)>cheaper than an FRT>$90-$120 for full drop-in kit>3D printable or CNC (recommend stainless/4140)>most are 3 position cross-bolt safety>left is safe, right is semi, middle is fully semi-automic>Atrius now shipping the only super safety that operates like a normal AR safety selectorHow it works:
https://youtu.be/KIxsnh2fFTo [Embed]
To make an AR-15 super safe you'll need:
>M16 style/"full auto" bolt carrier group>H3 or H2 buffer weight (will do 600-750 rpm of 5.56)>"low shelf" lower receiver>SS>any AR trigger so long as you give it an SS cutLast thread:

>>63918581>Checkout these MP5 pictogram lowers I found. Why would you ruin a nice MP5 with one of those trash printed housings?
>>63918580Yeah I'm just giving them a hard time because I'm anxious. But also I feel like they should have closed orders earlier if they are having this much trouble filling them.
>>63918596Sounds like growing pains for a small business to me, got a bit overextended and they've stopped new orders while they unbury. I wouldn't be worried, just need some patience. There have been plenty of things I've had to wait over a month to receive. Hell, I was buying NFA items when wait times were over a year so 4 weeks sounds like nothing my brother in Christ.
>>63918592Because the stock MP5 lowers aren't compatible with a super safety.
>>63918630So buy a Lee Sporting housing, not one of those ugly garbo 3D prints. Or print it yourself, it will probably look better than that horseshit.
>>63918640You seem upset that there are options for super-safety compatible MP5 lowers. How odd.
>>63918661You're going to lead some uninformed guy astray into making his nice MP5 look like complete ass. How odd.
>>63918676>oh nooooo that $800 Turkish MP5 has a lower that looks almost the same as a normal lower ahhhhhhhhh
>>63918605My real concern is what will happen to the pending orders if they end up in a legal battle with rare breed
>>63918640>Or print it yourself,t. man who has never interacted with a 3d printer
>>63918682That's fair. Rare Breed asshole is cease and desisting everyone. Long lead time gives that piece of shit more time to slap one on them too.
>>63918688NTA but what's the issue?
>>63918688lmao my ass off. I have an ender and an x1c. Many printed 2a things. A couple of them even look as shitty as those housings.
I received mine and tested it on my 300 blk, ran 100 rounds (Winchester 200gr super suppressed) and it was fine -Ran approx 1100rpm. hd 194s were slightly faster and fed smoothly. Felt good and I unironically think this technology and its proliferation will disrupt the machine gun market
>>63918736>I unironically think this technology and its proliferation will disrupt the machine gun marketHope so, would like to pick up a couple more and would be great if I can do that at a lower price.
>>63918680Kek, this. Not sure what grumpy bug crawled up that guy's ass.
>>63918696The issue is there are people selling 3D printed MP5 lowers that can take super safeties and it really upsets one anon.

Rare breed buyer here from previous thread. H2 buffer didn't work, switched uppers and it worked perfectly with the H2. So apparently all my problems were caused by my aero upper which I bought complete and I suspect maybe the gas block wasn't installed correctly or something. On the cheap M&P sport ii upper it worked just fine with an H2 buffer weight.

>>63920862It's literally the same 3D printed lower without pictograms. You try so hard, yet you're still just a faggot.
>>63921444>can't tell the difference between a good print and a shit oneanon I...
Update - I ran it on my v7 build, 7" honey badger barrel assembly. Winchester super suppressed - 650 rpm (dogshir underpowered dirty slop for ammo) and those lehigh 194s - 840rpm, smooth as butter. Running an h3 buffer with a lightweight bcg (8.2oz) and a flat tubs spring. Ejection around 4o clock. I expect supers ro be like an mg42 @ 1100-1200rpm. It has "unlocked" the ability to paint targets with low recoil ~950-1050fps rounds, which is unfathomably based and is more true to the design of PDWs being bullet hoses. buy one
For anyone planning on running an ATRIUS selector, here's what ive compiled as necessities thus far
1 millspec trigger with a flat rear shelf, the PSA enhanced polished trigger seems to work great.
2 filed flat rear of carrier group for good sear interface, If the back shelf of your bcg has a slant, slope or curve you need to file it flat so the trip sear engages on a flat surface and doesn't get bent, this is what was causing all of the leavers breaking previously.
3 H2 or H3 buffer WITH shake in the buffer weights, a no rattle/ no shake buffer will result in bolt bounce and lead to out of batteries or light strikes.
Follow these steps and you should have good results.
>>63922526why is this an issue with the super selector but not the super safety
>>63922551the hofmans sear engages in the center of the BCG, the Super selektor engages on the right hand side of the bcg. The hoffman is more battle tested and will likley work more reliably with less work but you still have to modify your lower and its far less intuitive with the cross bolt saftey.
>>63922593why do they have is offset to the side anyways, seems like it'd work just as well straight
at first i thought it was so it could push the sear out of the way of the bolt to remove the super safe function, but in every position its alligned with the bolt
maybe they did it just so it'd break quicker to get more people to buy it
>>63922643could be, i think its so that the disconnector can interact with the side of the trigger bar rather than the middle where it is structurally weaker, either that or they made it like that because of needing to ad a cam to put it into third position. maybe ask em on insta, though i doubt youll get a response lmfao
>>63919759salty coins
>>63920315FYI if anyone was wondering, H1 buffers gave 1 tungsten weight, H2 buffers have 2 and H3 have 3 (carbine weight buffers are 3 steel). So if you have an h2 & an h1 you can swap a tungsten weight with a steel, leaving you with an H3 and a standard carbine buffer.
>>63922526Would a Sionics trigger work with it, or any SS?
>>63922526Would a Sionics trigger work with it?
They have both mil-spec and two-stage options.
>>63922900the Sionics enchanted millspec trigger has a flat shelf behind the disconnector so yes it should work.
>>63922936As time goes on, I hope Atrius works out the kinks of the design so no modifications are needed for it to operate perfectly. It's hard to tell if most of the issues that people are experiencing with the Super Skeletor are flaws, or just user error from some out-of-spec part in their shit pony AR from AliExpress.
>>63923010seeing that everything is machined from the exact same metal on the same machine, im pretty sure its the fact that the "Millspec" standard has fallen so far in the last 20 years that its just a marketing gimmick now adays.
>>63923104i mean "milspec" literally means the bare minimum the military will accept
What BCG are you bros running?
>>63923906generic mil-spec M16. Works fine.
>>63923906Ruger AR556 bcg, KAK Kspec, KAK 9mm bcg. These all work fine for me. though I had to drill the KAK for my SS
It isnt that big of a deal which one you get, just get a good quality milspec and youre good
>>63923906run any full auto m4 style carrier group from BCM Knights armorment, Daniel defense, Aero precision, or any other American manufacturing plant, avoid anything made in bulk or china.
A bare bones MPI, full auto rated BCG from Aero precision is 120 bucks and is gonna last you the entire life of you receiver set. even a gucci top of the line Nickle boron BCG is 250 bucks from BCM or knights armorment.
I finally cut my own 3 pos trigger to swap out with my 2 position which functioned flawlessly. Havenโt taken it to the range yet, but with the upper off it resets as expected. However when I cycle the action, the doesnโt fully reset. Did I cut my trigger too much?

well good news, the cam safety designing is coming along a lot quicker than i thought it would be, figured i'd push it's work ahead of my other project and i'm pretty much 70% done with drawing it up in cad
i have two business name ideas i'm kinda choosing from at this point, either Desert Meridian or Anime Tobacco & Firearms
>>63924317obligatory anime girl
>>63924317What are you trying to accomplish with your design exactly? Sounds interesting
>>63924375same thing as atrius, but i'm also gonna make super safeties for other guns
i came up with the lever cam idea like 2 weeks before the super selector was anounced so i was pretty distraught to find out someone beat me to it, but recently found out their design kinda sucks if you dont want to fuck up your gun with a dremel and they're constantly out of stock so i'm gonna do what they did but better and cheaper
might also do something for the suomi kp31 because i already drew some stuff up in the past and indianapolis ordnance is slow as shit
>>63924454That would be great. It sucks that the only traditional safety design is stuck with one company that can't keep its product in stock.
Anyone running an AR22 with a super safety?
>>63924454Your bit about the dremel makes me think yours will be high shelf compatible, will us LMT-cels have an option now? Atrius "claims" they will be making a high shelf option eventually but they seem to be claiming anything that will get them more future orders they can't fulfill, I trust a /k/ommando more than them. Regardless I will be monitoring these generals and wish you the best of luck with your designs and business.

Does super safety work on K98?
>>63924984I am a big fan of ambi safeties but the one on the ejection port side of the rifle is half the length of the standard safety
Will an A5H2 work with the DTT FRT? I've read some people say it runs fine, and others say that A5s don't work because the weights don't move freely
>>63925266why is it so short anyways
>>63925161Who cares? Go shoot your guns
>>63918378 (OP)So I have an MG42 that uses an AR-15 trigger group. Preliminary inspections say that it would not be very hard at all to kludge a SS into it. I don't suppose any other semi auto 42 owners have tried this yet and can tell me what kind of RPM to expect with the BRP bolt and if I need the bolt bounce reduction thing to stop it from exploding?
>>63925416MG42 and SS linked up? what year is it
>>63922526Can you explain a bit more your No.2 point?
Both my first and 2nd Atrius Lever were and are showing wear in the pic related location. I believe it is impacting against the BCG right at the edge where the slot for the auto sear begins.
>>63924984Just a plain ol' mil-spec lever for Delta Force larping.

>>63928776I managed to buy a couple SSs from GMR last week, so Atrius might still take orders during the litigation process too, though whether or not you'll get it shipped out to you until next year is another discussion.

It's a lot cheaper to just cut a LL out of sheet steel and tell everyone it's an FRT if they ask. As long as you don't get your funs confiscated for some other reason there's no way it could come back to bite you.
Are Franklin Binaries even worth buying anymore?
PSA currently has a complete Franklin Lower with their binary installed on sale for only 300 bucks.

Think it's okay to put a suppressor on a glock with a frt? The suppressor is an obsidian 45 so there is more clearance for a less chance for baffle strike yeah? Better to put it in the short configuration?
>>63918534>>63918580Yea they make about 200 units per month but with SS vendors kneeling and trying to settle with raregreed i dont know how Atrius would fare in the future.
I've been told Vectors are pretty shit since they're constrained to semi only. Would this make them worth it? I've been wanting a Vector for some years, currently thinking on the 10mm version

>>63941980I run a 7" honey badger barrel assembly v7 build and for what it's worth here's some data. Lightweight bcg (8.2oz) + h3 buffer + tubbs + thunder chicken + 194 lehigh subs/200gr Winchester super suppressed + flatware spring = 800ish rpm on the good bullets. No fails over 200 rounds with various magazines. Interestingly, standard bcg with any buffer including 1.7, 2.2, 2.6, h up to h3, resulted in fail to feeds.
I bring it up because the barrel lengths are short so it might be something to try. I do not know how 5.56 would act but it could be worth increasing buffer weights/ adjusting gas. Could be inertia based on the bolt or something too
>>63942769Well, that looks fucking awesome. I want a Vector now. I'd finally buy a PS90 if it could behave like that. I am praying to the gun gods out there to guide someone's hand into making something for the AUG but there's a chance my dick may explode if that happened.
>>63942944>my dick may explode if that happenedBe careful what you wish for.
>>63943013I am willing to sacrifice my peen to have AUGs with FRTs in the hands of my fellow bullpup enjoyers. For the greater good and all that. I'll have my DTT next week, I'll have to endure with that until then.
>>63918378 (OP)looking to get one of these, which frt is the meta rn? seems like the super safety is the only one where you can use your own nice trigger and not have to use a dogshit milspec or worse
I kinda like the crossbolt idea desu
>>63942944>>63943044FRTs for the AUG exist. They're like $400+. though
>>63943060TLDR,
Hoffman SS, more battle tested, less wait time, not as ergonomic and less user friendly installation, needs h3 buffer with loose weights to prevent bolt bounce.
DTT FRT drop in, the easiest to install, works out of the box with every ar15, slightly better than milspec trigger pull on semi, - must be cleaned every 3-500 rounds or else it will gum up, 500$ plus.
Atrius super selektor, works with many drop in trigger groups with a small amount of dreamal work, 3 position selector, 200$ -requires small cuts on BCG rear see
>>63922526 also needs h3 buffer with loose weights to prevent bolt bounce, will likely take half a year to ship to you as the demand for them is HUGE right now.
>>63943594I have the atrius super selector and I didnt have to do any cuts, just the h3 buffer. Im using the mbt2 trigger
>>63942857>>63942050I have it, it works
>>63942769This is 3 position as well, looks like I have a new project
>>63943846The bcg I used was a kac down vent btw
Anyone that used the glock frt, is there technique in using it or is it natural and intuitive? I remember binary glock trigger sucking
>>63943071I looked into it and I think I'll wait for a true drop in kit. I have the 20/20 sear installed, which is good for the FRT, but I'm not cool with drilling a hole in the stock for yet another crossbolt safety button, especially one that looks like it will snap off if I look at it wrong.

>>63952243use the camera on your phone and slo mo video your bolt dropping from lock back, see if it bounces, it you get ANY bolt bounce at all that is your problem for light strikes. You need an h2 or h3 buffer with rubber spacers in between the weights to act as a dead blow. if you have no bold bounce and are still seeing these issues i would try a new carrier group or tougher trigger, something is either wrong with your firing pin protrusion or the weight of your hammer.

>>63943594>requires H3 buffer w/ loose weightsYou should ALWAYS have a deadblow buffer anyway, bolt bounce is always an issue with any AR15, it is just slightly more pronounced with forced reset and/or pistol calibers.
You dont need an H3 but its better to have an H1 or H2 than carbine as it lowers the fire rate, reduces recoil, and doesnt make properly gassed guns run like shit. H3 is good for overgassed or suppressor only AR's (see overgassed).
Many rifles require a heavier buffer weight as the system doesnt have enough inertia to let the forced reset work properly with carbine buffers.
>>63930802only a pajeet would be capable of talking that much shit.
What's the preferred AR buffer for a super safety? Does barrel length matter? Adding a suppressor? Flow through or traditional? Does short barreled make a different? What about piston vs DI? Bufferpill a n00b plox.
>>63918378 (OP)6+ weeks now waiting on my super selektor from performancetriggers
>>63962071JP silent captured spring in all cases.
Suppressors jack up the cyclic rate. None of mine are flow through but I have one very K can (4"), one medium can, and one enormous Otter Creek can that is a clone of an Allen Engineering can. All of them have been run flawlessly with silent captured springs and I've also tried all of them with lightweight bolt carrier groups. I can reliably get the cyclic rate north of 1200 rpm.
I can't speak for piston guns but I can't imagine there's much reason to get one.

Got my DTT fartyboi installed last night. Turns out it was Rare Breed all along. Anyways, something nobody tells you is you have to install your upper with the hammer up so you need to manually trip it by pressing on the reset lever and pulling the trigger.
You will also have trouble getting the back pin to line up to attach the back end of the receiver, but I found the best way to do it was to pull the charging handle a bit while seating so the buffer moved enough to get clearance, then lock the buffer back while pushing the pin through.
Anyone else have a little play side to side in the anti-walk pins, though? They don't tighten down flush with the lower receiver all the way but I put some blue locktite on them so we'll see.

>>63973897Yes. There's videos of belt fed AR uppers with FRTs already.
>>63918640Manufacturers of the improved MP5 trip slips have warned against using the Lee Sporting lower. Active Safety Designs is the best metal lower available, the Lee is obsolete

Looking at building an AR10 with SS. I know there's no common standard across manufacturers, and the specs between DPMS/Armalite receivers is kinda convoluted. Which receiver spec would allow a SS to work, and how could it be built to reliably function with most common ammo loads? Spoke with one guy who said he can only get his AR10 ss to work reliably with 168s and that's maybe a bit expensive for my blood right now.
>>63946116That's gunna take some time anon, there's only so much space in there compared to all the current FRT'd guns which wither use trigger packs or take AR trigger components
>>63963597Now im conflicted on either a Stribog 10mm or a Vector 10mm.
At least with a UMP brace and some CZ fixed sights I can larp the bog as a UMP at home, but the Vector uses the ever affordable glock mag (ASDesigns is making a 10mm/45 glock mag Stribog lower though)
>>63971883Hopefully a FAL soon

>>63975622Design it as a drop in with no receiver modification and I'll buy a PS90 for it. AUG, too. The only type out there right now requires drilling another hole so then you have to deal with two cross bolt settings.
>>63975783Thats what I aim to do for most of my designs, but its not always possible. Guns are often designed to be as efficient on internal space as they can, so modifications that directly change the internal parts aren't always going to be easy.
>>63975793I'm not a mechanical engineer, but I am very technically savvy with hand tools and cosmetic maintenance as a profession. I can tell you with all honesty I won't be willing to drill a hole through a polymer stock and hope the pin lines up, even with an included jig. If you can figure out a drop in kit that doesn't require permanent mods and is durable and easy to maintain you will be rolling in money.

Atrius Dev Selektor update
Hit 800 rounds today, flawless no malfunctions or issues. Not seeing any new additional wear on the lever or the BCG. I clearanced my upper receiver rear lip similar to most Super Safety SS clearancing procedures just to be safe. The thing spits. Working on 2-3 round burts.
>>63971883MP5 when
>>63976144I do plan on it, and I'll have a look at the AK to see if theres anything that could possibly be done for a three position. People say its impossible but I feel that they may be focusing too much on trying to get the pre-existing design to work instead of trying to think outside of the box. Theres one gun for example where I was stumped until I looked at the original full auto parts instead of the semi auto parts I was familiar with, and immediately came up with a new design that was extremely simple
Also, I have a question for you guys, how would you feel if the PS90's trigger was changed from the original linear trigger (like a 1911) to a rotating one to accommodate forced reset?
Is the dnt ak supersafety as reliable as their ar ss? I donโt feel like waiting for 3 position and it would probably be convoluted to make 3 position work in an ak without many funny bits.

>>63976833I can sell you one, Venmo.me money.
Why are binaries more expensive
>>63978447Mostly made by larger companies with more bloat, so everybody involved in a team plus the company owner need to have it priced so they get paid, plus its new and full autos cost 12k or more now so they can set whatever price they want. I'm hoping for more indie projects with lower overhead so we don't get a situation like with suppressors where you have bloated costs due to barriers to entry.
