I guess i'm too "domesticated". i can use appropriate force to stop a threat and not break a sweat, but I lack any kind of "killer instinct" to actively want to cause harm to other people. Also funny since i was a big video game player growing up, and they said that those shooting games would program soulless killbots.

Probably, another factor I give significant weight is the decline in living standard - when they were conscripts most of them were still living with their parents, then the 90s happened and now they are literally living in shit and the good old days in the army don't seem so bad anymore. Games don't make you violent. I grew up with them and play them and I got the whole range being born in 1980. Like prime youth game years was Postal 2 and Doom.
