>>63930586I ran into this problem literally two days ago. I had to fly out to Chicago. I brought the pictured items with me. After going to millennium park, I was walking back to my hotel around 9:45 PM. I knew not to stay past 10 PM. Despite no one else walking around with a flashlight, I pull out my flashlight to feel safer. I don't put the gloves on because it is hot out and I don't want to look weird.
GPS tells me that walking through under a bridge is the fastest way back to my hotel. As I enter one end of the tunnel under the bridge, an inner city youth enters the other end. As I go to walk by him, he moves over into my way.
I move to the side and he moves to that side to block me again.
I look around for a group tourists to run towards, but there are no other people nearby. I notice his hands are shaking, so something is wrong with him.
At this point, I remember I have the gloves in my pocket. However, I have forgotten that I have the pen. I realize that my wallet is on top of the gloves in my pocket. There is no way for my to get the gloves on without pulling out my wallet. Also, pulling out my wallet and showing him how much cash I have is the last thing I want to do. Further, he is so close to me that I don't really have time to get the gloves on.
So I just clench my flashlight really hard and raise it up so that I am ready to strike with it. He looks at me and decides that I am not worth the trouble. He moves out of my way and I take off for my hotel.
