Is "hypersonic" really a big deal?

amraam isn't keeping up with range its not a speed thing its a range thing
thankfully the usa is nopt stupid and replacing it
but might give them to isreal or the saudis since their enemies are no where near near peer.

also amrams at 4.5march are not going to catch a Mig31B at max speed and has no mobitity
do you think your enemies going to just stand still like your cgi models do when your shills gloat about such a missile.
no.

its a shame the phenix hwas phased out its so much better than the amraam in so many ways but its too big for almost everything.
so sad.

that said the amraam is still legues better than the sparow or magic 7
but nothing compeared to the chinese missiles
and thats the rub.

keeping up with china and russia is one of the goals, and surpassing them with next gen domination is the goal.

100% think usa is going to keep it
for a long time.
how ever i think russia is done for.
china and usa will totally screw over russia.
russia has training and men. but their tech is lagging hard.

missiles are pretty much on par with the usa with russia and the AA is so much better than the usa or china currently and so is their artilitary
'but in terms of tanks and aircraft nope china and usa would destroy them.

but then again no one can attack america dew to location and no ones got anything that can travel there and attack them for any legth of time with out getting pwned.

The only reason people mix up technically hypersonic and Hypersonic™ is because Russian cope propaganda.

It's definitely not as much of a game changer as some people act like it is, but increased speed does make missiles harder to intercept. Some of that speed increase may be marginal, but from a capabilities standpoint, marginal differences often lead to significantly different outcomes. If a system is already near or at the upper-limit of what it can reliably intercept, even a slight increase in the capabilities of what it's supposed to intercept would result in a significant increase in failed intercepts.

The hypersonic meme already got debunked by Patriot missiles, hence why chinks and vatniks are silent about it now.

are we seeing the same war? aside from the R-37 ( requires specialist platforms to be used at its full capabilities) Russian missles (both air launched and ground launched) are unable to secure the airspace of ukraine, a country with a soviet airforce running with donated parts and with some f-16s. Russian non guided artillery is slightly worse than NATO artillery, M982 is something that the Russian mind can't comprend

Because when the military talk about "futuristic hypersonic weapons" they do not mean a missile that goes faster than mach 5 somewhere throughout its flight path, even the fucking V2 did that. What they mean is a missile that travels at that speed throughout its entire flight path from launch to impact, and can manouvre at the same time which has yet to be done by anyone unlike what the vatniks and chinks like to say.

It's really just the military being shit at naming their stuff as to filter these things. Essentially they started claiming that hypersonics is the next frontier without properly explaining and differentiating for the populace to understand what they meant. which the vatniks and chinks are using to claim they have achieved hypersonics whilst using "it reaches mach 5 sometimes" as a definition and are trying to chest thump with it. They are feeding on that misconception that every single retard in this thread has fallen for, or at least are pretending to have fallen for.

The Khinzal as an example is exactly like the V2, it reaches mach 5 at some parts of its flight path, but it's not what any western military would call a hypersonic weapon. Reaching mach 5 isn't impressive at all, being able to hold it for hundreds of kilometers AND being able to do sharp turns to avoid AA is the hard part and is why they are seen as the next step as no nation on earth would be able to shoot down one of those.

OP is a prime example of why using "hypersonic" as an umbrella term leads the morons astray.

not physically possible

what the usa is developing is a multi stage rocket system to launch the mach 10+ scram jet missile. the scram jet itself needs to reach a mach 3 threshold to function so it seems likely the missile will come in thee stages. first stage will be a subsonic cruising speed that allows for high maneuverability and fuel efficiency like your standard cruise missile with the second phase propelling the scram jet to mach 3 then the scram jet accelerating to mach 10+ as it approaches it's target

Hypersonic is not a big deal, a hypersonic missile that flies at those speeds for the whole trip and is able to correct its course in the final phase to dodge anti air fire coming from multiple ships and hit a small maneuvering target like say, an aircraft carrier, is a big fucking deal, it's the holy grail. The hump that nobody can get over is that when you get to those speeds at such low altitudes youre generating so much heat that signals just stop working, unless Russia or China or anyone that chest thumps over hypersonic weapons has made a breakthrough that turns off heat and friction they're full of shit, and last I checked China is still building carriers. As a side note this is a similar problem railguns run into at full power, the things melt themselves.
