The youtuber Benelli shill (with a vendetta against Turkey) bothered me with his plain dismissal of ("gamer") shotgun speed loaders, so I bought one as part of my home defense setup.
How the fuck do you use these? I can't even get them into the tube reliably. They made it look so simple in the demo videos...

Not the turk anon but brass height has no effect on modern shotgun pressures. High brass is mostly used as a way to visually distinguish types, but higher pressure ammo can still be loaded in low brass ammo.

I dunno. The same one where a shotgun card would be used? This is just supposed to be faster.
And shotguns fire either .73 bullets or a bunch of .33s together. You get more fuckery per trigger pull/magdump, shells are easier to manage than rifle mags, and custom loads are fun in the meantime.

I just don't think you should use a shotgun if you are imagining a scenario where you need to reload. most HD shootings are solved with 0 to 2 rounds, especially from a shotgun. if you think there is a riot of peace outside or a lynch mob wants you dead I'd grab the AR

Yeah, I suppose the HD thing was pretty dumb. Just any reasonably-intimate and poorly-defined skirmish, then.
I guess it's really just a tool for gang warfare.
>if you think there is a riot of peace outside or a lynch mob wants you dead I'd grab the AR
In the case of a lynch mob, wouldn't they be at the perfect distance for a shotgun to be used? And that's a scenario in which magazine logistics could actually cause problems for ARs.

>>63932325
I have mine in my drawer. Uploading a stock photo was faster. You load the shells in just ahead of a small gap. The entryway's gap is perfectly thumb-width, and the two prongs at the top almost perfectly align with a shotgun's loading port, though it only ever seems to work if you push your way to the tube using the side of the top opening.

Har-har. Good luck loading your rifle without a mag. The speedloader is an optional accessory. If you get even one good use out of it, it's perfectly fine. The second it presents even mild inconvenience, you just stop using it and life goes on as normal.

Because it makes shells almost as easy to manage as rifle mags, in theory.

It was dark in them jungles, I was only 19 and you could hear them screaming in the dark. We could smell them and we wore barbed wire hats decorated with pictures of osama bin laden and saddam. USA USA USA.

ARs are easier to shoot within 50 yards due to the lack of recoil compared to a shotgun shooting defensive loads

It makes them easier to manage than rifle mags.
Again, with shotguns, you just need to have the ammo with you. If you drop this in the middle of nowhere, it's no skin off your back. Your magazine is still there, underneath the barrel. You cannot use a typical rifle without bringing at least one box magazine with you. Shotguns don't have a failure condition like this unless your gun breaks or you run totally out of ammo.

If you're really worried about that "failure condition", you could just get a Cali-compliant lower with non-detachable mag. But nobody would do that because it's silly. You might as well argue that shotguns are riskier because if you dent the mag tube you can't just instantly pop on one of the dozen pre-loaded spares you have on your person like you would for an AR.

If part of my gun breaks, obviously, I need to sort that out before attempting to use it.
Cali mags may be worse than just reloading an AR-15 by hand.

Okay, I've worked out the "trick" to it.
It's not just using the left hand like in the creator's video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKNHfcc6RlE).
That doesn't really factor in.
You angle the thing against both the rear of the loading port and the front of the trigger guard, use your index or middle finger to keep the shell from popping out, then push.
I'm becoming more consistent with it. when it works, it really is fast. Much faster than doing 3 by hand, but still not faster than popping just 1 in.
Gonna see if I can't reach that point with it.
(I feel so genteel with this.)

Scratch that
Ring finger keeps the shells aligned, and you just push the syringe into the midsection. Keeps it clean. Might even be able to catch the thing before it falls.

That's like saying "you can't use a shotgun without bringing at least one shell with you. It's nonsensical.

My home defense gun is an AUG. It sits in a rack with one magazine loaded and a second jungle-taped to the first. The magazine is always there.
It's not like the magazine is suddenly going to drop free, that's not something that happens.

No, and I shouldn't need to say (on /k/ of all boards) what separates ammunition from magazines.
