how can i get as close to zeroed before i take my gun to the range? and yes i have lower 1/3 cowitness iron sights plus an underbarrel laser sight. should i just try to align my dot the proper amount over the point of the laser beam?
If one of your sights is zeroed in, clamp the gun in place and adjust the other sights to match the same point of aim. If not, if you can disassemble the gun in such a way that the zero will be retained while looking down the bore from the rear (eg ARs), you can adjust sights to aim at the center of what you see through there.
Better than nothing if you have any fear of needing to rely on it in the meantime, or if the range doesn't allow close up shots that remove the concern of it not even being on paper at the start. Otherwise, these approximations are useless and you should just skip to actually zeroing it.

>>63939402thanks, i dont have access to any tools like a vice or a clamp or a table surface though. also i installed my iron sights on this gun and haven't tested them out either (though they appear to be perfectly straight to my eye). im assuming the laser is the most properly adjusted aim point right now, didnt monkey around with the zeroing at all and installed it as securely as it can fit onto the gun. this is for a glock 26 anyway, not a rifle.
