You're comparing two different weight class helicopters
The Seahawk is heavier and carries more payload
The Wildcat is lighter and more economical, if you're not doing ASW it can do pretty much everything else

Wildcat can do ASW, the Brits just don't fit theirs with dipping sonar and light stores dispensers because they have Merlin for ASW.
Korean and Filipino ones have ASW capability

>Korean and Filipino ones have ASW capability
They lack endurance and payload
Just can't compare a 6 ton helicopter and a 10 ton helicopter

>Korean and Filipino ones have ASW capability

There's a reason why Korea is replacing them with locally made Puma and the flip is replacing them with black hawks

Used to dominate servers in DayZ Epoch back in the day with the Wildcat, thus making it the better helicopter.

It's to stop the helo from rolling backwards off the flight deck, in the worst case it'll just go in a circle before it's lashed down

Parking brake??? A system that rotates the struts along their vertical axis to take the function of a parking brake MUST be the Italian contribution to design

why is anti-sub heli is so small and agile? shouldnt the meta be big like chinook so it could drop more sonar buoys and loiter more.

It depends on the hangar of the ship. ASW helo tend to be on the small side because they're usually parked inside ship 's hangar and hangar on a sub-4000 tonne ship could only support medium or super medium helo

to an extent, yes
this is the Merlin, which the Royal Navy uses for hunting submarines. it's more than twice the weight of the Wildcat. the Wildcat is for general purpose use on smaller non-ASW ships

The royal navy originally had the Wasp for small ships not capable of carrying larger Wessex and Sea King helicopters. The Wasp was basically a turboprop, some steel pipes and 2 torpedos or depth charges and nothing else. Basically a hovering Swordfish.

The original Lynx was originally made for the Army so they made it agile but it still had to be smol like the Wasp. In the end they had a helicopter that could do ASW even if it was outclased by Sea King BVLLs but was great at Anti-Surface Warfare as it was small and fast while still having radar and ESM. The Wildcat basically continues the focus on anti-surface and landing troops thing.

That's why the Lynx's kill list is short on submarines (unless you count that Argentine WW2 sub) and long on Iraqi corvettes.

>Westland Wasp
never was a helicopter more appropriately named

>it still had to be smol
because the knock-on effects of building a bigger hangar and landing pad for a bigger ship capable of operating a bigger helicopter ended up making ships much more expensive
"steel is cheap and air is free", well, that is until you factor in topweight, hydrodynamic impact on ideal hullforms, powerplants to drive the whole thing at the desired speeds...

>he Wildcat basically continues the focus on anti-surface and landing troops thing
helicopters just have amazing utility
no ship that omitted a hangar has ever not regretted it

People forget just how tiny 1960s frigates were. The Rothsay class frigates were half the size of the Perry class and barely bigger than a WW2 Destroyer. The Rothsays were the big ones the Blackwood class was 1,500 tons and couldn't even fit a flight deck let alone an enclosed hanger.
