I was looking for some 124gn earlier at the store and the only thing they had was this NATO. I didn't notice until I got it home it wasn't luger.

Is this safe to fire in my pistol or did I throw away $12.99 + tax?

Depends on the pistol. It should be fine with most pistols though. Any kind of duty pistol will handle it.

sd9ve, its hard to get consisent information about rather it can handle +P ammo. I'm assuming it's similar to that I could be wrong though.

โ€œNATOโ€ just means itโ€™s 124gr and loaded slightly hotter. Your gun will be fine.

Why is the shooter featured on the packaging so shitty?
Are they advertising poor accuracy?

I though 9mm NATO was 9mm, but loaded somewhere between +p and +p+. You gun should probably be fine, but it might wear out faster.

That is true, but doesn't have anything to do with OP's question.

faster wear doesn't bother me, I don't shoot that often to care. As long as it doesn't blow up in my hand or anything.

I was hoping it was like 1000 yards with a pistol or something but your theory is just as if not more credible, it is their house brand cheap shit.

ZSR turkroach trash, get the regular 9mm manufactured in Brazil, itโ€™s just repackaged magtech. That will still work though.

You said you have a Smith earlier in the thread. Most Smith and Wession 9mm's are rated for +p, but not +p+.
I wouldn't want to shoot it because I don't want to beat my guns up if I can avoid it, but it's gun, your money, so you do you.

I bought the monarch 5.56 a couple times. The first time it ran just fine. The last time my AR was ejecting like it was overgassed. I don't know if it was the ammo or if something was up with the gun. I'm gonna head back to the range this week and run some winchester through it to see.

just ran a box of 50 through my HK 45 it went fine
I have shot about 7-8k monarch 9mm through various glocks and cz's over the last year and I've had three failures plus one bullet that was dented and set back like a mother fucker (no idea what happened there but I threw it out). One of the failures was a light primer strike and I blame the ammo, the other two happened within one mag on a g34 I was running almost completely dry. I lubed the glock and ran another 200 of the same ammo with no failures so that's on me.
2/8000 failures is pretty fucjing gtg. I basically only buy steel monarch because I might get 19cpr online but why bother when academy is 15 minutes away and it's got 20 cpr always in stock

oh a couple more things
they switched from turkey to brazil (or brazil to turkey)? sometime in the last 6 months, maybe in late 2024. I don't think the quality has necessarily dipped but prior to that switch I never had a failure. The 5.56 has been good for me as well but I've hardly shot any, maybe 400 rounds

Monarch 124gr NATO is weaksauce. I shoot a lot of Winchester 124gr NATO in the white box and that stuff is pissin hot. Feels like 124gr HST +P

It's a +P load.

>>63949771
It's probably gonna be fine, but did you buy yourself a lot of it or what? If it's just one box of 50 it's not gonna matter.

>>63949876
Nigger, it's a +P load, not a proof load, his gun isn't gonna come apart all of a sudden.

the sd and sv have weak extractors where its quite common that the extractor claws break. even with normal ammo. just from high round counts. not really high round counts( 5-10k) but more than the normal poorfag who bought one would ever put through a gun
s&w will fix it for free if you mail the gun in but refuse to sell the extractors seperately.

i would not run +p in that gun. its not going to kb on him but theres a decent chance it will be damaged.

Monarch is garbage. That shit shoots so much dirtier than other ammo. I stayed away from it for years but just recently bought 250 rounds of it because it was such a good deal. After like 2 boxes it looked like I'd rubbed the muzzle of my gun in graphite dust. If you're buying from Academy just spend the extra ~2 dollars a box and get Blazer instead.

Also yes, your gun will be fine. It's not going to blow up.

it's slightly hotter 9mm loaded to the NATO STANAG
it's great if you have a compensator on your barrel that causes periodic FTE's, when I ran a compensator on my VP9T, 9mm NATO was the only ammo that ran reliably, 115gr ball wasn't powerful enough to consistently cycle
for target shooting, you're slightly overpaying
the only thing it's really good for is positively flipping momentum targets, but even then you're better using 147gr if it's something like a spinner in a steel match
