Can you be in the military while having autism? Serious question
>he's blissfully ignorant
>>63958969 (OP)How do you think the Air Force gets recruits?
>>63958969 (OP)>Everyone dresses the same>Everything is arranged the same>Strict adherence to routine, schedule, precedence & tradition>Should you decided to go against the conformity, you receive a violent screeching. The military is institutional autism
>>63958969 (OP)most people with autism don't know they have it. really depends on where you fall in the range of screeching sperg to saying "Y-You too" when the cashier says "Hello."
>>63959341Autists generally don't deal well with screaming
>>63959341>>63958969 (OP)>>63959492>>63960260Depends on Country and What kind of selection process there is. I got denied for cutting myself for 2 months at 12 years old and having minor autism
t. Kraut
To a degree, it's encouraged.
>>63958969 (OP)Depends on how autistic. Level 1? Sure, you'll probably end up pushing paperwork or moving supplies. Militaries are very dependent on discipline and procedure so you might even enjoy it. More than that? Probably not.
>>63958969 (OP)About 1 in 31 people have some form of autism. That figure doesn't account for those who haven't been formally diagnosed either, so the actual number is probably higher.
With that in mind, yeah no shit you can be in the military with autism. People make it work all the fucking time.
>>63960464I would have thought the Germans would embrace Autism given the stereotypes associated with it.
>>63960725Not the Autism that makes you be an edgelord at 12 years old I guess. I know plenty of guys way "worse" than me who are in the Military in different countries all over Europe, and I know guys who are "better off" than me who are in Military in different countries all over Europe, so I'd assume it's a case-by-case thing
>>63958969 (OP)My platoon sergeant made it all the way to E-6 being an autistic retard so there's that
Most generals are autists
>>63958969 (OP)For my country, iceye SAR imagery sweeps will need people of certain skills
>>63958969 (OP)NSA is not really military, but you know.
>>63960260i disagree, i deal exceptionally well with screaming, to the point i've almost gotten my ass kicked a few times because screaming just comes across as weird animalistic noises and lack of self-control to me, it doesn't transfer any emotional stress to me.
>>63958969 (OP)Met more autists in the Marines than I have literally anywhere else and I work with an entire IT team now.
>>63958969 (OP)Yes, and it's a great fucking place to be autistic desu. Clear rules and minimum mandatory superfluous social interaction. If you're weird nobody really cares as long as you do your job and salute at the appropriate moments.
>>63962329I'm an autist and don't deal well with loud noises. It took some adjusting to depriving myself from that to every order being barked desu
>>63962322aren't most glowies well adjusted ivy league types, mormons, and people from useful ethnic groups?
>>63964297>mormons>Well adjustedMaybe after all the medication.
The thing is that ANY illicit drug use AT ALL in your life disqualifies you. But when you eat Ambien for the calories in it that's A-OK.
This means that only the squarest of squares gets through, not that they're well-adjusted.
I found out while I was in (Muhreen co), didn't make that much of a difference I feel. I'd have to fight others, but then again that's normal Marine shi when dumbasses like to put nuts on faces. Hung out with the same guys and drank at the smoke pit the same as everyone. Didn't really try to hide it, it just is what it is.
Honestly, I believe one of the worst things to autists is growing up with the diagnosed metality. Weaponised autism is legit, it won't hold you back if you master yourself. It is illegal, but just dont openly tell anyone, just the same when dudes underage drink.
>>63962385It's going to be shit if you're actually deployed because nobody is going to drag /thatguy/ through miles of no man's land if he gets injured. Might be alright if he's a pog.
