this is the future of tanks.
EVERY modern tank's armor layout is intended primarily to protect against cannons and ATGMs hitting the front. problem is, drones can hit from ANY angle, including from behind, above and below. the next generation of tanks will need to account for this.

What did they do, take one whose turret was screwed, strip out the barrel to give to a more functioning tank and turn it into a unarmed turtle?

there's already no shortage of ways to protect the sides, top and rear of a actual modern MBT from RPG-7 rounds. It helps actually having a MBT and not T-72 and T-72 derivatives as your tanks and dividing your force into cheap tank and more expensive but still cheap tank by design and doctrine.

T-72B3M sorry. According to NOELReports.
Yeah, I don't see a gun either and I've seen other footage.

There's other footage from an fpv, low quality but a different angle.
https://t.me/officer_33/5833

It was notable because it has such a complete superstructure around it, plus the spikes and chains, and EW modules up top and mine rollers too.
And it was still killed.

It seems like Ukies hit it with a mix of wired and wireless drones and a mine.

It's hard to see if you pause the video but it's still visible behind the mesh.

>And it was still killed.
Drones are far more dangerous than guided munition, they're human-smart munition. And 1-1.5m of standoff is useless if the armor protecting the sides and engine is <50mm thick.

What makes you think there aren't already easy answers to this?

Birdshot makes quick work of them. So does bolo shot. Directed energy pulses are the holy grail.

But even all that is easily defeated by drones: drones are disposable anyway. Doesn't matter if they can't survive the disruption of its flight path from lighting off a tandem charge warhead, and there's always bomblets from CBU-100s

you know I really think the theorized effectiveness of fpvs by nonstate actors is overblown. Both sides of the war in Ukraine are using them by the boatload to achieve their results. IEDs do have some advantages over drones, namely the size of the payload. If drones were ready so cheap and effective there would be far more footage of their use in Gaza. Ukraine and Russia have used them so effectively because they produce tons of them. Not to say that even in small quantities they can’t be effective, these things are going to terrorize 3rd and 4th string militaries. Cheap drones are easy to jam and as they become more sophisticated and capable they become more expensive, still cost efficient but the ratio decreases.

It's called an APS retard-chama, Iron Fist, Trophy, AMAP-ADS etc are already proven to destroy FPVs without issue. FPVs only made legacy tanks slightly more obsolete, not the tank as a concept. If anything the FPV drone only gave militaries a firm kick in the balls that they can't keep skimping out on procuring APS systems for their tanks like they have been for the last decade.

They're cheaper than an sdb and a few hours of flight but it's still $30k or so and worse, up to 59 targets unFPVed.
