What's a good price a Makarov?
There's a post soviet mak near me for $575 (California prices)
I am interested but I've got no frame of reference for these guns nor the ammo availability of 9x18 though the lgs has a pile of ammo for it.
Also, can mak's function off of .380acp?

The gun that you posted is an IJ-70. The IJ-70-17 is 380, the IJ-70-18 is 9x18. The rounds are not interchangeable. They use the same magazines though.

Is a conversion possible? The stock photo aside, the gun I saw today definitely said 9mm makarov on it.
I see that the price is steep but in gayland, I can't order one and just happened to come across one for sale.

unless you are a hardcore collector just pass on it. maybe troll around gun shows if you really want a mak but you're still going to have a bitch of a time getting ammo for it since you can't order ammo online anymore.
i'd say pass. for that much money you could get a new glock 19.

A conversion is possible but kind of a pain. Makarov barrels aren’t really meant to come out so you’d need a barrel press. I’d just leave it alone, especially as IJ-70 prices continue to rise. I paid $200 for mine and I’m shocked every time I look at gunbroker.

Yeah, you're probably right. My last couple guns have been in expensive calibers, .44mag and 7.62 tokarev.
I do, however, like the provenance of a gun that was made in that brief window of time where the US and Russia weren't diametrically opposed to each other.

then get it knowing you're paying too much and wont be able to shoot it that often.

a decade ago i got a pretty clean east german makarov for 200 bucks from a local old guy, shit was so cash ordered a 1000rnd case of food for it. came with a regular holster, parade holster, one matching mag and one non matching with the target grips on and the dick grips in the box. the tits.
then last year i stumbled across a walther p1. i paid too much for it but now i've got the side arm for both the east and the west to go along with my ushanka.
shit was so cash.

you can't buy ammo online unless you can find a lgs that is willing to get their dick sucked by you and bring it in under their ffl. most i know wont let you since they want you to buy their expensive garbage instead. way worse for meme calibers.
for example they wont process for you to order a case of brass m193 for 24 cents a shot but will gladly sell you the exact same agullia case of m193 for 55 cents a shot.
welcome to the shithole state. it will get worse.

It really is maximum gay. Honestly, its a race to 9mm and .22lr supremacy. That's about the only way to shoot anymore without raping your wallet too hard. I mean, we get to just pay 5 fucking dollars everytime we buy ammo now.

Turners usually has 9x18 Makarov, but it's like $30-40 a box for basic bitch FMJ. This shitty state is why I got into handloading, although mostly for my 10mm. I should get a 9x18 die and supplies so I can press some FMJ for my CZ-82.
Anonymous No.63963798 [Report]
You shouldn't get a makarov, because they have grips shaped like dicks.

Buy a CZ-83 instead. The Makarov is isn't all that great.

A good price for a Makarov is 0 dollars. They suck ass. Buy literally anything else anon. If you're buying for LARP purposes, stop LARPing. I don't think anyone even issues 9x18 anymore so you can't even make an argument for looting ammo like with x39 and x54R.

If they're chambered for .380, then yes. Otherwise no. Imez made a bunch of them back in the 90's/ear;y 2000's for the US civilian market. I actually just picked this one up. Most are single stack and use the exact same mags as 9x18 maks, but the one I picked up is double-stack. The double stack mags are basically unobtanium so I'm glad mine came with 2 but I'm still searching for a couple more

On that note - any of you Mak enjoyers know where I can find relatively affordable double-stack mak mags? I found a Russian site that's selling them for $110

Question for you fellas: If I had an IJ-70 in .380, and it was in pretty good condition, how much do you think I could sell it for? I'm considering pawning it off.

I've seen them go for well below $400 in CA before Covid. Looking at recent completed listing on GunBroker, most of them sold for under $500 but, there are some exceptions. I think that's a terrible price but, they probably won't become cheaper in CA unless the handgun roster goes away and they're not becoming C&R exempt anytime soon so you be the judge.

You're not doing yourself any favors by not having a FFL03/COE as a Cali resident.

I got one for $500 like 10 years ago, no idea what they're going for now but to put that into perspective we considered that cheap in CA 10 years ago. I want to sell it, it's an excellent condition Bulgarian and I'm in IE wya?
Anonymous No.63968349 [Report]
Just so you know, a deactivated (!) Makarov over here in my Eurocuck noguns country is almost $900.

$400 is a fair price for one in good condition. Ask $500 OBO and see what happens
Anonymous No.63968638 [Report]
In 2011, I bought a Bulgarian Makarov as my first handgun for $230. Ammo was insanely cheap. I could get a 50 round box of Monarch 95gr 9x18 at Academy for $5 each. I also bought an AK-74 for $460 and a case of 1,080 rounds of 5.45x39 was $180 at the time. Shit was so cash. Thanks, Obama.
