Underrated film, little out there, but underrated.

you may not like it, but that's what peak strategic warfare looks like.

seriously though, truck launched was an original design feature of shahed-136.

I remember watching it in like 2003 and liking it. It was great.

Getting that image to post though I discovered numerous scathing reviews and a low score.critics were seething. It confused me and made me want to rewatch it.

Their drones always had the option of catapult launch or JATO and they have been fielding vehicle assisted take off (including boats) for years. They began using those top vehicle take off as a more mobile catapult.
The MLRS-like launcher of that dorito and other previous (DAR drone) is just an extra to make it practical.

I've been thinking for a while that vehicle launch is the superior low cost option compared to catapults and rocket launches

yes
>superior
No.

You want to impart as much energy as you can before the drone flies on its own power, and a proper catapult does it better.

go and watch videos of original shahed-136 videos. they show pickup launches, not just those truck tels. they don't need the rocket booster if done via pickup.

You can drive a car up to 150kmh easily.
Accelerating a 200kg drone to that speed is not an easy task for a catapult.

>You can drive a car up to 150kmh easily.
Now coordinate 150 cars to launch more or less at the same time. Lets make this easy and say you have 10 minutes to do this.

>Accelerating a 200kg drone to that speed is not an easy task for a catapult.
We're not talking steam/electricity driven catapults like an aircraft carrier.. Ukies do it for their heavier winged drones drones with pullies, cables, and a guided sled.

It's easy. This is not air defense, you can give the prepare for launch command one hour in advance. Or just relay the time of launch one hour before.
Launching one drone is about 5 minutes so the single car can be used to launch plenty of drones.
>We're not talking steam/electricity driven catapults like an aircraft carrier.
Pneumatics is the most practical way to launch drones.
>Ukies do it for their heavier winged drones drones with pullies, cables, and a guided sled.
And what's the power source? Accelerating a 200kg weight to above it's stall speed (100-150kmh) takes a lot of energy in a very short burst.

Sometimes they just leave welding electrodes burned to the body and just paint over them.
That's not a joke or an exaggeration. And that was the pre-war level of quality, I can't imagine these vehicles have gotten better since then.
The Chinese parts on these pieces of shit are genuinely better than the russian-made garbage.

It's not even Dodge anymore. It's just Ram Trucks. We don't have Rams where I am we have Mountain Goats, I sneak up on them webm related. Goats Trucks seems like it would sell better, as a marketing tool, in the Middle East.
