The guns fine it is the same fal fags that still think the problems with the m14 are due to the design rather than QC from procurements. Britbongs didn't have the time or resources to rework the em2 and the other countries adopting the fal made it a more logistically practical decision.

Obsolete sure but it isn't bad. Fal guys hate everything that came directly before and after unlike g3 people, g3 might be more complicated but the initial test fals were worst than the m14 and the british required a lot of improvements to even adopt them.

My point is theres reasons the fal lost in the US(trial fal drastically underperforming in cold and spotty moa even compared to the m14 trial rifle) and g3 fit non ideal climates significantly better even in other nato trials, but the em2 never even really got tested or trialed to any extent we would know. We don't even have enough docs to really say if manufacturing costs were considered.

The EM2 didn't need reworking, it worked just fine and they even adopted it. It was the US insisting on 7.62 and refusing anything else that killed it since the FAL could be adapted for it easier.
