Ive held the Sig one at Sig's flagship store, its actually nice in terms of weight. Likely the main gun the Army wanted.

No machinegun will ever out preform the M240/MAG 58. It is the best weapon ever created. It will go down in history as one of the most iconic small arms ever to see combat; right up there with the swords, and spears of yesteryear. SIg and OOW pale in comparison compared to its majesty.

Sig has it in the bag. Fact is, this sketchy ass Sig shit has been going on much longer than people want to admit, long before the P320 or NGSW. The LWMMG had been in development since 2010 but was being left on read just so Sig could come in with a direct clone of it and take the contract. Its harder to tell nowadays since they gave it a facelift to match the XM250, but back in 2019 the MG338 was a straight up rip off of the LWMMG. Bless True Velocity for giving it another try, but its wasted effort, they simply don't have Sigs connections.

338 would have had a legitimate role as a one-off buy for troops in 2010s Afghanistan but it's a last war meme today. Even in Afghanistan Switchblades were considered way better.
