Missile supremacy allows a country with more manufacturing capacity and strategic depth (large territory, lots of mountains etc.) to totally outmatch any smaller country or maritime-based attacker. Iran has shown how much damage even a modest missile volley will do to a smaller country, and that's even by holding back from hitting the truly devastating targets (power and desalination plants, water treatment facilities, grain storages etc.). The high tech interceptors are quickly depleted and a smaller country is left defenseless against the missile spam of a larger nation.
China's advanced hypersonics with evasive capabilities fired in a first volley alongside lower-tech and cheaper ballistic missiles will likely result in the quick depletion of the entire missile defense arsenal of the US, Japan, South Korea and others, whose industries have been destroyed by decades of financialization and deindustrialization, as well as the enduring rare earth minerals and permanent magnets ban by China.
Furthermore, the country with the larger civil engineering/construction industrial base will be able to resist attacks better, as more factories, research institutes, worker dorms, power plants, hydroponics/vertical farms etc. can be taken deeply underground; making it being able to resist even a full on nuclear war and being left with enough untouched industries to not just fire back, but to exploit the would-be-MAD situation by dominating the world thereafter with an intact population and industry.
