My oldest son exclusively buys sporterized mausers and mosins and restores them to how they were meant to be. I think hes only gotten a handful that he couldnt unfuck. Hes got a real nice 1938 mauser that he did a good job on. Ill see if I can get him to send a picture

I've made quite a bit of money sporterizing milsurp over the years. Lost count of how many Mosins and Mausers I've drilled and tapped for scopes, restocked, rebarreled, threaded barrels for muzzle brakes, cut and rewelded bolt handles to clear scopes, you name it, I've probably done it. I don't care if some boomer wants to give me money to sporterize, it's their gun and if they want to spend what it would cost to just buy a Ruger American I'm not gonna talk em out of it. And it's not like Mosins and Mausers are all that rare, you guys who say you can't find them need to find new shops.

Uhhh actually they added a lot of aftermarket equipment to that old durr rifle. That fancy polymer handgusrd was 2k, and the bent bolt handle was 500. Now you can actually mount a scope on the receiver that they took the effort to tap and drill for you. They put a lot of work into that old thing to modernize it and make it useful.
