But yeah, I saw a video of a black powder rifle shooting competition where the course of fire is like an hour long for 20 shots. Adjusting powder load between shots, cleaning the rifling, etc.

What worries me about that is if permanent damage can happen to the gun running it dry, like the slide rails get extra gouged out due to steel debris in the channel and the gun loosens up. This fear is probably unfounded since 1k isnโ€™t that much

I would expect a "handmade" gun made like that to be cleaned, lubed and tested before being shipped. Could that actually happen?

Of course it could actually happen. It might be less likely on an expensive gun, but it's still possible. Believing in quality control is a form of faith, and I don't prescribe to that. People are lazy, they don't give a fuck, they make mistakes. I trust myself more than the underpaid wagie at the factory. Why risk it?

Going for song??

Doing some side by side grouping with the sccy and steyr is the first thing im doing when I get to the range seriously lol. Think in a couple weeks I might get like a bulk box of brass 9mm target ammo. Like a 500 rd box or something. Might try blazer brass case target ammo. Right now just a couple boxes of foichi. Gonna shoot some of that .

>nice! can you yell me about the barrel bushing setup? is it octagonal?
it's integral to the barrel, a wafered bull barrel, it's a feature unique to a few Wilson Combats and Nighthawks. The Wilson Elite Professional and Nighthawk Predator for example. It's extra weight on the barrel and looks cool, doesn't really do anything other than that. Nighthawk claims it increases the barrel lock up at the front.

Going for a song is an expression ive heard used for like a screaning hot deal. I'd reccomend buying in bulk from places like sgammo where you get fast cheap shipping for $200+ purchases, their bulk brass 9mm is like 22cpr atm so if you buy a case its shipped free. I also reccomend bakers targets for bulk targets. Get a years worth for like $40 instead of buying 10 at a time for $15 or whatever.

>>63981345
The left is my FN 509c, the right was a rental range FN 509 LS EDGE which was FN's premium package pistol with all the upgrades like apex triggers, stippling, brass baseplates ect. When it came out I called it stupid and overpriced, however about 6 months ago when I last checked that package was only about $300 more than the regular 509, which after the apex trigger instal made it well worth it. I shot it well, better than the sig 320 spectre comp which is their steiker fired juiced up $2k pistol or the M&P version of the that style of luxury duty pistol.

I like the 509c because it comes with multiple baseplate mags from the factory to change it from subcompact like the glock26, compact like the glock 19, or full size like the glock 17. HK sort of does a similar thing with the p30sk but it lacks the full size mag baseplate from the factory.

>>63981420
I sold my gen 1 single stack M&P shield for about what I paid for it when the covid craze hit and I don't regret it. Trying to learn how to shoot handguns on a gun that small was a huge mistake and really could have soured me on the hobby before I even got going. Smith and Wesson also installed my front sight post on backwards like a bunch of tards so i didn't really trust the rest of it to be put together right.

>>63981465
Go to a rental range and try stuff out and see for yourself, but generally hammer fired DA/SA pistols like the CZ 75 compact/P-01, any of the 9mm compact sig P series like the 229 or sp2022, or the HK p30sk will work better than polymer framed striker fired pistols when limp wristed

To expand on that, guns like glocks are especially prone to choking when limo wristed. You will train this out eventually, but for now getting something without that issue will help you be proficient enough to want to continue to learn and improve. Here is a youtube short to illistrate my point and a pic of a dry dirty RXM malfunction because people interact with post with pictures more than those without. https://youtube.com/shorts/zxNvq7ZgKjA?si=jFu00JPE-ieHp1XV

Bud it's all going up. Do you think we mine, produce, and manufacture all our own primers brass and lead 100% in USA? Even if american ammo companies did that, they would raise prices if the whole rest of the imported ammo market had to raise their prices.

I posted that guy since Iโ€™m looking at that for my next cut (you never stop at one). My normal guy is DSC since he does the DPO cut that staccatos use so itโ€™s very supported through aftermarket with several different people making plates for the DPO cut. DSC has packages where he cuts, installs a plate and BUIS and he Cerakotes the cut portion so the slide underneath the plate. Or he can cut and Cerakote for 200 dollars.

The RMR cut is the most ubiquitous, and the RMR Type 2 is the most proven red dot. The SRO and RMR HD are better dots IMO, the bigger SRO would be perfect as itโ€™s the same price as the RMR basically. While the RMR HD is much more expensive but also the cutting edge of dots with its auto brightness system. There has been many attempts at dethroning the RMR but none has succeeded.

You could put Holosun optics on it, like the 507Comp or the 407C but it feels like I am betraying America if I do that

9x18 would be superior to .32 ACP in every way including barriers such as automotive glass especially Buffalo Bore but you already knew that and will be using the PM because your SA-35 doesn't cycle reliably because Springfield Armory's lacks QC which you were probably warned about but proceeded anyway because it's more affordable than a P226 and you consider obsolescence very attractive in a pistol

But your incessant and disingenuous questions make me grin if not chuckle because they're from my favourite deputy~

But realistically PM should be better in most ways including stopping power, no?

I kinda feel I should get rid of my G45 MOS w/ threaded barrel for a G17.4 w/ threaded barrel (non-MOS). G45 has a weird form factor, it's kinda ugly, I can't manage to make it aesthetic, front serrations are meh, slide looks too short, mullet like. On the other hand, it's probably the best 9 mm Glock overall. Meanwhile, G17.4 threaded isn't as versatile, but it's much more aesthetic and "classic" vibe feels much comfyer. I don't know.

Weednigger also vanished when this troom started posting, even though he used to post nonstop here. Then he reappeared after this was pointed out. Then when the glocktroon said he was leaving, weednigger was here every day, until now.
Both of these people are a single loser who spends 12 hours a day here playing roles to shitpost, and I am going to find the origin point because he won't shut the fuck up. I am serious.

Staccato suffers from the same thing as Eotech and Aimpoint. Got big on one innovative thing, kept antiquated technology, has a cult like following, meh customer service, and keeps charging arm and leg prices for what is essentially a mediocre handgun compared to the competition in its class. The trigger is meh, finish is prone to rust, magazines are still somewhat finicky, and just not worth the price point. The XC line is spitting distance of Atlas price wise, and the P line is just an overpriced, somewhat duty grade handgun. They work great if you keep up with them, but they are no longer the end-all, be-all of the 2011 world.

The Platypus is not a 2011. It does not use a detachable grip frame, itโ€™s a single piece of aluminum machined.

>>63985092
I think overhang isnโ€™t an issue. I use a RMR for concealment, itโ€™s my carry gun. I used to use an RMR HD on it but concealing it was more difficult. I think you should start with a big window dot like the SRO, even if it leaves training scars since itโ€™s like tricycle wheels. Itโ€™s round which is pleasing for 1911 aesthetics if you also have a round top slide

The platypus is also not parts compatible with other 2011s other than a few small parts. Most 2011s on the market can use the same grip frames and have 1911 slides. I believe the Platypus does not use a real 1911 slide as itโ€™s modified.

It feels about the same as a glock grip. Maybe a little thinner. As far as the replaceable grips, nothing besides sig, 2011s, and a few other underground manufacturers offers it. It's not a big deal. Throw some grip tape on it, mess around with their grip textures, ask questions, and just shoot it.

Itโ€™s a closer fight than it looks since I have lots of hardcast FN Buffalo bore 32 but only ball 9x18 and BBJHP CZ is also cheaper and a little thinner
OTOH PM is cooler and powerful
>because it's more affordable than a P226 and you consider obsolescence very attractive in a pistol
I didnt realize you were the hammer fired classic sig chad. If I could do it again I wouldโ€™ve tried the 226 or a colt commander
But it canโ€™t get rid of the SA-35 till I fix it.

I literally tore it down last week and polished all parts and replaced all springs (hard when hammer springs are in the 30lb range) and then screamed and cried after realizing I lost my sear pin and ordered a replacment
I hope it arrives soon and I finally have a good gun then

Also TY

New mags. Failure to go into battery once it gets a little dirty (200rds is enough) requiring a love tap on the back of the slide to send it home. I believe Germany? However, that's my assumption due to the location of the company. I'll check the box tomorrow when I go into my garage and pull it from my safe.
Practiced drawing from the holster and I feel like I intuitively pick up the dot quicker than my RMR. Pic does a disservice since the "10" zone is red on that target.

Nah, you can't claim made in US unless the majority of components by value derive from America. So, they don't want to say "assembled in America", because that tells people it's from Chinese parts, and they aren't legally allowed to say "made in America". Hence, they just don't say anything. It's almost certainly assembled in the US from Chinese components (or a smattering of various foreign components from the whole world, which is what Vortex does).

Which glock footprint to go with? Im tempted to just get one of the new aimpoint coa glocks but this is like their 3rd dot footprint and if it sucks then im stuck with it. A bit concerned about including the rear sight on the locking block for the dot.

Annoys the fuck out of me the army decided to adopt a non standard mount for the m17. Regardless of how i feel about sig if they went with an already popular footprint it more than likely wouldve become the defacto standard.

Oh yeah Wilson combat has some nice stuff, I wonder if you can get them in silver though everything on the website is black. It's not that I do or don't have enough, it's just what will I find that's I feel is worth spending the money on. I'm looking for a 2011 because I do love how a good 1911 shoots but double stack is very appealing. All of my pistols are tool grade right now, like G19, G26, CSX-E, Hellcat, CW380, mostly ugly or meh at best but they're tools so who cares. I want something nice but the nice 2011s I have seen in person and in store are ugly tacticool bullcrap and if I'm buying a gun as a nice toy, I want it to look nice to my eyes.

It almost certainly is not, or it would say assembled as even that much is a higher pedigree than not. Steiner marks their US made and German made optics such. Leaving it off is as certain as putting a SEA country on the bottom.

I did you and anon the favor of just calling the place. Steiner USA/Bushnell said, and I quote, "Unfortunately that's not information that we can provide."

>>63986491
AI said it it must be true! Steiner makes their US optics in Colorado, the AI couldn't even get the state right.

I can confirm that I could break that case quite easily, provided I have my tools. If it has a physical key, I could pick it. If not, I could just use a power drill and you're fucked. I could also just brute force it with my car or a vice grip or something. Oh, and if all else fails, I doubt that case is bulletproof. If even bullets fail, I could use chemistry and submerge it in a tub of acid or something. All while smoking an XXL OG Kush.

The real question is how resistant the electrical and physical locks are to being reset, bypassed, etc., or picked. Neither of which were answered by your cum guzzling post. No shit someone could take a fucking power tool to it or use any other various methods to open it if they had the time.

Apologies for my confusion, I donโ€™t mean to put words in your mouth. But are you saying the firearm not locking back on an empty magazine isnโ€™t the firearm not working? Does that not mean the slide stop/release isnโ€™t functioning properly?

It's happened to me before but to be fair the gun shot a lot higher than the lined up irons. Every other optic was way off.

Glad youโ€™ve had one that was good to go. It gave me an appreciation on figuring out how to โ€œwalk the dotโ€ in to a zeroed position though. And once it was zeroed the MPS was super fun to shoot

The slide stop is not working, that's obviously a failure. But the slide stop not working is not a life ending failure which you're implying by it not being suitable for duty use. Most competition 2011s don't even have functional slide stops. Most people put their thumb on P226 slide stops so they don't work. You should be practicing failure drills and not expecting the slide stop to work anyway. It in no way prevents you from reloading. To summarize, in the time it takes Staccato to fix it it won't get you killed in the streets.

No, that guy is impressive.

This guy is an illegal, not the cool kind. Heโ€™s from Spain, came here on a student visa, flunked out of school since heโ€™s a schizophrenic drug addict and not very smart. Heโ€™s obsessed with a few of the regulars here since they made fun of him a few years ago so he constantly ban evades to spam gay interracial pornography and other shit. Sometimes he tries to talk about guns but heโ€™s retarded

New thread.

They really are great pistols. Slow fire, I shoot just as good or better with them as my Glocks. Rapid fire, Iโ€™m better with Glocks. I think it comes down to having a lot more time and rounds through Glocks over the years than PDPs. PDPs feel so skinny in my hands and Glocks just feel like a 2x4 and I love it.
