Every Pacific Theater battle be like
>30,000 IJA forces with 5 tanks and 1 mortar vs 3,000 US Muhreens with 3,000 tanks plus 3,000 aircraft
>29,999 Japanese KIA, 1 captured and commits suicide
>100 Marine injured, 2000 fatigued

Fastforward 80 years and people still think it's the Marines who did the heavy lifting in WW2.

Navy
>takes more casualties in a single battle than the Marines do over an entire campaign protecting their landing zone, forced to disengage in order to consolidate strength and ensure the supply lines remain intact
Marines

I'd still rather serve under Peiper and spend Christmas abandooning my tank to trudge through mountains of snow than sweat in some tropical hellhole with some mutt good ol' boy in charge.

more like
>Navy ignores Marine request for increased pre-landing bombardment, then bombard Marine positions during the invasion to make up for it

SS just means political troops, foreign ss formations were often chronically under equipped.

only true for the prewar era, himmler actively sold the Waffen-SS to hitler as a fanatic elite unit, which it became during the war
but yea foreign SS units were probably the bottom of the barrel regarding equipment, meanwhile the Wehrmacht was complaining that some fanatics with 0 will to survive got all the good stuff at the end of the war

All the assault rifles, King Tigers, jets and the Maus prototype should have gone to the Dirlewanger brigade.

I don't think there was even one single instance in the pacific theater where the Marines were outnumbered in any capacity, and they still incurred heavy losses, sometimes more, than the Japanese. See: Angaur, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Sugarloaf hill, New Georgia.

Japan built enormous underground fortress systems on those islands, literally inside mountains, stocked them full of guns and ammo and told everyone to fight to the death. No amount of navy or air bombardment could kill them so marines and army had to dig them out, that requires at least 3:1 advantage and you still take huge losses despite doctrine and fire power.

Some islands did not even need to be assaulted, Tarawa being the least necessary.
