Don't the airforce fly those things with perfect or near perfect records? Maybe the marines are just retarded.

The all around crash rates of V-22s are about the same as a Blackhawk. Abysmal compared to fixed wing.

Tech has come a long, LONG way since the fucking 1980s OP (yes, the V-22 started manufacture in 1988).

Duh? VTOL carries pretty high prices. That said it's getting to be less so and the advantages in flexibility and ground/sea support is still there. Militaries keep investing in helicopters (and probably in the future huge quad/hex copter drones etc) and various hybrids like this thing for good reason.

>Its 4 prop rotors are linked by internal driveshafts allowing the Tarantula to continue flying after absorbing significant damage.
Presumably this means that even in the case of an engine being knocked out, so long as the driveshafts remain intact the other three engines can keep the fourth prop turning

I don't know if that's how it works in the game but I've managed to land easily with only 3 engines intact so maybe?

Yeah so long as you don't lose the actual prop or nacelle, losing an engine just reduces overall power.

If a 76mm cannon can singlehandedly destroy all the AA in the battlespace
Why isn't there a land based variant of this wunderwaffe?
