That's pretty cool.
It'll fuck up a trench line if it's badly built, it's intended purpose is probably to hit the screen/chains/net/whatever at the front of a bunker and throw fire down into it.

It might help to counter a tactic that zigger pilots have just started using.
They dig a trench of a few hundred metres long and then cover and camouflage it.
Then they launch their drones through the trench and only pop up at the exit, so bombing the tunnel entrance doesn't do shit to the operators who are safe 200m away in a bunker.

I guess that's how they know exactly how it was made.
It's still an issue though because identifying a bunker in a 200m radius of a launch point is a very different prospect to just bombing the hatch/hole a drone flew out of.
And it's an extra bit of intel that needs to be shared with anyone surveilling and tracking FPV battalions, so it causes a little trouble at relatively little expense, since making mobiks dig is kind of what Russian officers like doing most (most officers probably).

The front is bursting at the seams — and even the General Staff is not embarrassed to talk about it. Operational encirclement near Kostiantynivka, loss of positions in the south of Donetsk Oblast, attacks in Sumy and Kharkiv Oblasts. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to respond in time, there are not enough brigades, there are no rotations.

The reality is simple, since in a number of areas there is no one left to fight. The brigades are exhausted, the equipment is faulty, ammunition is running out. The word "rotation" is heard more and more often, but it only happens on paper. In reality, the fighters are kept in position for 6-8 months without rest.

The operational command is transferring units from one area to another. This is not a strategy. These are desperate attempts to plug holes. This is not how wars are won — this is how they are lost.

Near Kostiantynivka, up to 8 brigades are in tactical encirclement. This is about 10 thousand people. Without ammunition, without food supplies, with minimal communications. Some have already started to leave without permission, because they understand that the command has written them off.

The Zaporizhzhya direction is filled with mobilized soldiers. They do not know the terrain, they are not prepared for the conditions. They are immediately covered by aviation and artillery. If anyone survives, they are finished off by assault groups. It is a meat grinder, and the generals know it.

Against this background, any talk of counteroffensives looks like a mockery. The military sees that Kiev is not ready for a real defense.

And today, the only reasonable choice for many is to save themselves. Because neither the command nor the government is going to save the soldier. Their task is not victory, but holding the picture. And in this picture, the front is still holding. But the reality is different. And it is on the verge of collapse.

I recently talked to a soldier who has been fighting on the front line since the summer of 22 and went to the North-Eastern Front a month ago. His psyche is completely broken (all the talk about how the Katsaps were knocking them out, how they were dismantling their fortifications with drones, how they were retreating and how many did not survive...), he barely survived, he says that 70% of his comrades have died since the beginning of the war, 20% are crippled, 10% survived and are fighting. He will never return there again, why should he die, and the war does not affect others in any way.
People not on the front line need rotation, at least one month of leave at home every three months, and there is no one to replace them....
These repressive methods of the TCC do not work, just as the law on mobilization does not work, it is too soft.

I imagine they start by digging a tunnel underground and then just pop up when they think they've gone far enough. It'd be much easier to start it that way, because then if you do need to open it up as a trench, you can just quickly take the roof down and have most of the important digging to give you cover already done.

The drone density at the front is not as heavy as people think it is. There are a lot of drones but unless you have a drone unit stationed nearby, of which there aren't that many relatively speaking, then they will have to bring a truck with drones and set them up (which takes several minutes per drone) before vectoring to the target, where they can't fly more than a few at a time without interference. So overall you're looking at several hours of time to get a drone on location, and then they aren't going to be bringing that many at once. This is of course ignoring that the trench likely has EW and is also likely not considered enough of a priority target for the drone units (who are providing support for all the surrounding units) to send men with drones to. They can avoid some of this with fiber optic drones of course but those are also not that common, and they are way more of a bitch to fly because of the tether. They will also give away the position of your own troops' defensive positions which event surveillance drones can follow back and call artillery onto. All this means that the guys at the front don't get harassed by drones that much until they are either rotating out, which gives opportunities to destroy vehicles, or until they are being assaulted where the drones are used to support the incoming waves of infantry

In shitholes with low value of human life, dying for your country is a common theme of patriotic celebrations like these. Not in the Westerner sense of "this guy heroically sacrificed himself doing something extraordinary, lets remember him" but more like a general sense of more dying being more better and making the country more powerful.
