Lets settle this once and for all, is the PSA Dagger a good handgun?

It's fine. We are in a golden age of cheap yet reliable 9mm handguns. Literally doesn't matter.

People forget what $300-$400 got you a decade ago because it was pretty horrible.

I've had a few, I impulse buy them when they're on sale then offload them to the next guy a few months later at funshows. They're a glock clone. They work. They're accurate for plinking/carry. They're cheap. I prefer my genuine glawk brand glawk foty for carry since I don't trust 9mm to put down a cracked out lunchtime rowdy. But the dagger is fine.

It's alright. It's fun if you want a gun you can just be a reckless idiot with and attach whatever cheap dumb bullshit you find on ebay or alibaba. It'll work if you need a serious pistol but a LEO trade in glawk is just all around better and can be had for the same price

It's functional if you need a Glock right now because you have an actionable threat on your life, but if you can wait until you've saved up enough for a Glock-brand Glock or even an RXM, why wouldn't you?

You certainly could do worse but yeah a Glock with a different name brand is fine and will chew through even the worst of steel cased and Remshit ammo. It's hard to make a good gun when the standard is set so high however.

I like Ruger revolvers but doesn't Ruger have a bad reputation for using really cheap paint/coating that will wear off after a few hot sweaty days? Or have they fixed that issue since then.

"or even an RXM" implies that it's better than a Dagger but not as good as a real Glock

The SIGMA was pretty reliable, and it's thanks to that gun that so many striker-fired guns would come out soon after.

The quality of Ruger's coatings vary greatly depending upon the model. Their super-budget Security-9 has a blued barrel that will rust if you look at it wrong whereas their LCR cylinders are DLC coated. The nitride coating on my RXM is somewhere in the middle and is holding up fine for me, seems to be on par with the SIGs and S&W duty gun finishes I've owned.

That makes sense, I guess everything they sell really is a 'ya get what you pay for' situation. I've never heard anyone complain about the Redhawk/Blackhawk but then again those are expensive and heavy enough to even handle Bubba's pissin hot loads.

This. I had to reblue my dad's security 9 after it sitting in this safe for a month. The Van's I put on it is more durable than the factory finish lol. But my rxm still isn't showing any holster wear

It's made out of stainless steel not high carbon. It will beat the shit out of itself and not last the test of time. Same reason why their AKs aren't lasting to high round counts, they're using too soft of steel grades. The cheap bastards, what a thing to cheap out on.

A decade ago the SD9VE was out, probably the most proven Glockalike ever, and it didn't have the Sigma's AIDS trigger. S&W just did a reboot called the SD9 2.0, it has the same internals just with a modern stock trigger and some ergonomic adjustments. I'd choose it over a Dagger desu. Upgrading with a large aftermarket is cool but every dollar spent on restless gun syndrome is a dollar that could be spent on ammo. Sometimes the best option is a solid, barebones gun where the whole thing was QC'd as a single system.

So does that mean a LCR's finish won't come off easily then since those are in the 700/800 dollar range?
Honestly I should probably just ask in the wheelgun thread.
