>>63998067they're fine so long as the miss-distance of the missile is small enough when compared to the size of the target such that the dead zones between the lasers isn't a problem. when the target is the size of a small drone the probability that a beam will intersect with one of the lasers decreases drastically with miss-distance. it could also be a matter of sensitivity, in terms of the threshold of how long and how much power needs to be reflected to set off the fuze, but that kinda circles back to the probability of the target intersecting the lasers, the lower that probability, the lower the probability of you reaching that threshold. Cruise missiles are small, sure, but they're still massive relative to drones, and with the miss distances of modern missiles you can be pretty comfortable with the probability of the fuze being triggered, not the case with a small drone.
