Sikorsky's are generally pretty good, no Russia doesn't operate choppers made by a subsidiary of LockMart.

Originally so the tail boom can be folded more compactly when they're on carriers. But it's been found that it also gives more lift to the aft of the helicopter when hovering that keeps the airframe in a more neutral attitude and allows easier pitch movements

Founded in Roosevelt Field, New York in 1923.
Igor Sikorsky was certainly Russian, a nationalist even but that was pre-revolution and he was a friend of the Tsar.
He wasn't about to build helicopters for the red army.

Technically he didn't defect, he fled and started a new life.
He was never loyal to the communist side and got out in 1917 before they took over in 1918 and eight years before Ukraine was officially a founding member of the USSR.
In 1917, the bolsheviks were just a faction but they were already throwing their weight around and he was in their crosshairs.
