>2015
>The PLAAF is mainly comprised of flanker clones, only a few domestic fighters in service.
>No 5th gen fighters in service
>Completely dependent on Russian engines and avionics
>Even their flanker clones couldn't be argued to be better than their Russian counterparts
>No tankers, barely any transport aircraft or awacs
>SAMs are just a copy of Russian systems
>The PLAN is large but is mainly comprised of small missile boats and frigates, 100% a brown water force
>Has a carrier, but they didn't build it but bought it from Ukraine
>Not a single type 55, only has like 10 outdated destroyers in service
>Only a handful of nuclear submarines, all of which are dogshit
>Could argue that the Japanese and SK navy is more powerful
>Not a single system could be considered "cutting edge" or superior to Western or Russian hardware
Fast forward 10 years
>2025
>2 fully domestic 5th gen fighters in service, working on 2 6th gen fighters
>Hundreds of J-20s in service, producing a hundred a year
>Flanker clones are universally agreed a massive upgraded compared to their Russian counterparts
>Has some of the best A2A missiles in the world
>Has their own SOTA engine program
>Churning out decent modern SSN at a rapid pace of 3 a year
>Has a catobar carrier with an EM catapult
>Has the largest navy, with 50 destroyers in service, the type 055 is probably the most powerful destroyer in active service
>Undoubtedly the 2nd most powerful navy in the world and a blue water navy
What a difference 10 years makes huh? I was actually surprised at how shit China was 10 years ago when I was reading up on their modernization program. In 2015, you could argue that Russia was a overall more powerful force, and that the Japan/SK navy still mogged the PLAN by a decent margin. They have come a long way. Their ground forces also went though a massive upgrade, but not as profound as their air force or navy. Interesting to see China in another 10 years.
